Ok, heres the situation. I want to start fishing tournaments. Eventually I want to move up to some of the larger tournament trails, such as the Wal-Mart tour, or the FLW Tour. But I dont know where to start. The only club within a reasonable distance from me has disbanded, so theres no chance of joining that one. My buddies and I are tryin to start one, but i'm not sure it's gonna work because we may not have the people. I have thought a long time on this and cannot figure anything out. I dont know how or where to start. If any of you have any advice, I would surely love to hear it. Thanks a lot!

Start out on the BFL's... fairly cheap entry fee and you can make some good money... then move up to the weekend series... BASS... or do both the BFL and WS...

Then move to the BASS Opens... and try to get into the classic... thats about the only way I know to go if your not in a Fed. Nation club...

Mobydick.... those help those who help themselves (or something like that) :). Hopefully I dont come off as a jerk but I see your from Central PA. I live in Central PA and I can tell you a handful of clubs that come to mind. I drive an hour and a half to my club meetings. Last week I drove through 2 inches of snow to get there and back. Clubs just didnt come to me and try to persuade me into joining. I had to make call after call and research the clubs and make a point to drive to the meetings and come up with the cash to join. http://pabass.com/ <-- Go to that site snoop around. After you are done looking around get in contact with me through PM. I will try to help you the best I can.

One guy who helped me and was the first one I talked to when I had no clue about anything was Zel. He put me on the right track.

Read last months Bass Times.  There were several articles on clubs, club membership and such.  Also you might want to check out ABA.

Check with some of your local marinas.  Sometimes they run tournaments that are kind of like club tourneys.

Move to Bartow or Cherokee County Georgia instead of Maryland. Lake Allatoona - 15 minutes away; Lanier 90 minutes; Weiss - 90 minutes; Oconee, Sinclair, and Westpoint - 2hrs, Guntersville, Logan Martin, and others within 3 - 3.5 hours. Plenty of clubs here and plenty of pot tournaments. We also fish all winter if we want to; I've only broken ice once to get in the lake. If you hunt, fish, drive a PU, and learn to talk slow you will fit in fine ;).
