Anyone heading to the classic in Greenville, SC?  I've been checking for information on-line, getting pretty excited.  I don't really know what to expect as far gaining access to the launch sights or weight-ins.  Can anyone offer any information on this?  As well, if any readers might be from the Greenville area and can offer some sights or resturaunts I should visit.  Thanks!

I've lived here for about 6 years but now live in Ala.  My favorite place to eat is Sonny's BBQ at exit 40 1.5 mile off I-85 in Powdersville.  Favorite Mexican place is On-The-Border at exit 54. Next to OTB is a Joes Crabshack, Macaroni Grill, Cali Dreamin.  Haywood Rd near the mall has a few places. If you are interested, there is some quaint little places to eat on Main St Greenville which is a nice place to walk downtown near the Reedy River.  Easley, SC is centrally located and be a decent choice to stay and eat.  Don't know where though.  About everything there is along Rt 123.

Lake Hartwell is really low and some ramps have been closed.  The lake is about 30 miles from Greenville.  We've been getting some rain though this month.

Be sure to take a plastic grocery bag or another bag to carry all of the stuff you will be getting for free at the Classic.

Pick up as much as you can and meet the pros and ask questions of the vendors.

It is a fantastic experience.

Maybe some of us could meet up and get some wings and a beer or something like that.  Does anyone know what the requirements for getting a boat on Hartwell during the classic?  I might be able to get access to a skeeter that weekend.

Hartwell is public lake.     Legally, they can't deny access to any public ramp.

Matter of fact, they like having spectators on the water for overhead shots, the more the merry.

Just have some consideration for the guys trying to put on a show for the public!!!

I would like to drive down for at least a little bit of browsing, but don't know if I'll be able to.

i live on hartwell lake on the gorgia side. The only requirements i know of is just your local and state laws. I am planning on being on the lake friday and sat durning the classic. The launch site is at portman marina off highway 24. I am not sure about how much acess will be to that ramp. But there is some good ramps nearby here.  Also you may want to check out this website to see which ramps are opened or closed due to the drought.http://www.sas.usace.army.mil/lakes/hartwell/hartrampstat.htm.

The Expo will be at the Exposition Center neer the airport. The only thing at Portman Marina will be the blast-off and the return. The Bi-lo center will be where the weigh-in will be.
