Mattlures Posted November 7, 2007 Author Posted November 7, 2007 Cart is just being funny, or at least trying to I am sure they will invite the Trew's. After all she released that WR after her one picture. I know it only looked 15lbs even after it had a 5lb weight in its gut but I'll who am I to judge! ;D Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 7, 2007 Super User Posted November 7, 2007 Is this the lady from Mirarmar that caught a bass that had 2 lb diving weight. Or is there another story since I left Cali? Quote
Bassinfreak2 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 2 LB Diving weight? In the gut of a Bass? What am I missing here guys? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 3, 2007 Super User Posted December 3, 2007 In the late 80's Sandy DeFresco caught a 21 pound 10 ounce bass. When the bass was cut open, a 2lb diving weight was found inside the bass. Contrart to what some articles have said, i read the biologist report a few weeks after it happened. I was living in San Diego during that time. The weight had growth on it. The biologist said no way this could have been done intentionally. What the acids have done and the growth on the lead while being inside the stomach was enough to show it wasn't done on purpose. And witnesses say they saw her catch the bass legally. On a sad note, it was speculated on the onset, that her husband did it as a joke about zimerlee's bass. By the way, Sandy worked the concession at Miramar lake back then, so who knows. either way, it was a toad with out the weight. Quote
Bassinfreak2 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Thanks Matt. I had never heard of this untill now. I would have still been happy with a fish of that size even if the 2 lbs was deducted from the total weight..... Quote
Mattlures Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 No I wasnt talking about that Defrecco fish(that was actualy a world class fish). I was talking about the Trews. Dont you guys remember? It was about 3 years ago that the Trew lady and her son cought a big bass around 15lbs and took one pic of it with her sticking it out as far as as she could and submitted it as a new WR. She claimed it was 22 1/2lbs. The IGFA rejected them. It was obvious to everybody who knows big fish that they were frauds. The fish is NO WHERE NEAR 20lbs let alone 22lbs. It actualy makes me mad when I see scum like this pulling this cr@p http://www.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=141101 Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted January 19, 2008 Super User Posted January 19, 2008 Well guys, I am excited to see this thing happen! 4 of my good friends are fishing it and I would be beyond stoked if one of them won it. They all have one of my baits so there is a chance ( although infinitely remote ) that it could even be won on a bait that I built. I think it is very very cool. A real " all balls no mercy" kind of tournament. winner take all, one fish limit. and tons of TOP names on the west coast big bass scene are fishing it. take a look at this site and look through some of the profiles. Heavyweight Bass Classic Angler Profiles Half of them were invited and half of them had to show up in person at the Bass-a-thon in Anaheim. The bite at Casitas has been really tough. Maybe it will turn around by then! Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 19, 2008 Super User Posted January 19, 2008 I'm still going through the list but it's great to see Super Matt on the list. Quote
