Last year my partner and i had 2 competitions that were fun. The first one we had to use 4# line, and the second one we were limited to 5 baits. This year we are going to have a solid black/solid white lures only, and wondering if any of you do this or have ideas..

When you say "5 baits"...do you mean five types of baits, or only five actual baits...as in if you hang up and break off five times...you're finished..???  If the latter, I would definitely choose a topwater as at least one of my choices.  Anyway, sounds like fun as long as you are allowed to "claim defeat" and continue fishing as normal for the remainder of the day.

Those sound neat for the guys who like those types.   I only fish one that is close to that.

Its a strictly Berkley Baits tourney on Fork, only berkley baits put on by Berkley, gonna be over 250,000 up for grabs this year.   My 10 inch power worm bite has taken some money before.

I don't care for the 4# test.   You are giving the fish a chance to break off easier, thus a fish that will have a hook empailed for some time, that may create future health problems.

I always say use what it takes to get the job done.   If down sizing works, good, but only downsize to a # strength that works.

Matt, if i lived in Tx. , i wouldn't own #4 test line either. Up here in Mi., you can see 12' deep in most every lake, and i use it in april and a little into may for small baits. Heck, i've only caught 3 over #4 my entire life.(musky, pike,&walleye not included). Man, that sounds sad if you knew how many hours i've been on the water. :-[

I've seen one fly trout fishing tournaments in AR. You can retie your knot as many times as you want, but if you hang up or break off your day is over.
