Bass Hole Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Apparently, we're quicker to criticize than to find legitimate complaints. I asked someone to explain to me why FLW is better than BASS. No one has done this yet, I've been called uneducated in my assessment. I guess I need explanation on this too. Someone please tell me about FLW's junior championship... Is that better than what BASS offers? I don't know what you think flw is lying to tbf about? But at least say what you really mean unless you really don't know what you are talking about. What do you think BASS will remove next? Federation Classic spots? FLW lied to TBF b/c they said they offer more & better than BASS does. I'm still waiting for an improvement for the members. They offer nothing more. In fact, the only difference is that BASS sends 6 federation members to the classic while FLW sends 1. Someone enlighten me what they offer that is better than BASS. Some of you bite so quickly, but forget to realize that BASS made it clear that the professional division (Elite) is their primary focus for now. And it should be. But they still send 6 amateurs to the classic. So try to remember their primary focus before huffing & puffing over other issues. Many of you should read some books from the professionals. Check out Iaconelli's. He clearly states that ESPN has made MAJOR improvements to BASS & fishing altogether. And forgive me, but I take his advice far more seriously than yours. Why is Mark Davis returning to BASS??? And why aren't any pros leaving BASS since the inaugural Elite Series??? By the way, what has FLW done for women in bass fishing? FLW is a fine organization and I hope to see them grow more. They have my full support. But they are in the back seat in comparison to BASS. I don't know why this upsets so many of you, but it is the reality of the situation. What does FLW do Better than Bass? 2 anglers got to the FLW cup 1 Boater 1 non boater 2 from each state. the winner of the nationals get a living the dream package that includes a wrapped ranger boat, wrapped Chevy truck, paid entry to the FLW series and expense money. Also there is a 12 places in the the FLW All American I don't remember how to qualify for that but it is a fact that all of these thing are true and have been happening for the last two years. As far as women thy compete in all the flw Tournaments along side the men. So to answer your question.(What Does FLW do better) FLW) 15 chances to advance BASS) 6 chances to advance So back to my question what did FLW/TBF lie about? and we all know what the JR's are doing with BASS This is what FLW does for the JR's and have done from the beginning. Quoted from FLW BASS FISHING'S JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED AUG. 16 IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FORREST WOOD CUP Youth anglers representing 46 TBF states will compete for $30,000 in scholarships, $12,000 in youth-program grants COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 12, 2007) The Bass Federation announced today that its 2008 National Guard Junior World Championship will be held on Lake Monticello in Columbia, S.C., Aug. 15-16 in conjunction with the $2 million Forrest Wood Cup the nation's most lucrative bass-fishing championship. Not only will daily weigh-ins be held alongside the world's top professional anglers on the main FLW stage at the Colonial Center, but results will be streamed live along with video and audio to fans around the world watching FLW Live on FLWOutdoors.com. The TBF National Guard Junior World Championship will feature youth anglers from as many as 46 states fishing for $30,000 in scholarships plus $12,000 in youth-program grants. Each participating state will be represented by two junior anglers: one in the 11 to 14 age bracket and another in the 15 to 18 age bracket, both of whom will receive travel assistance to Columbia. Every youth angler will also be treated to a world championship-caliber pizza party served up by the National Guard pro team and featuring high-energy games, entertainment and sponsor prizes. This is the third year for the National Guard Junior World Championship, and every year the bar is raised in terms of exposure, participation and excitement, said TBF President Robert Cartlidge. The young anglers who qualify represent the future of our sport, which I'm glad to say is in good shape based on the 23 percent growth our TBF junior angler program has experienced in past year. More children than ever before are now learning to fish through local TBF clubs, and this is a direct reflection of the awesome support provided by FLW Outdoors and the National Guard. The junior anglers will each be paired with an FLW Outdoors pro for competition on Lake Monticello. There will be three anglers to a boat: a junior angler from each age group plus an FLW Outdoors pro who will assist the junior anglers but will not fish. The two junior anglers will share control of the boat for the day but will compete in their respective age groups. The full field of junior anglers will compete Aug. 15 then be cut to the top angler in each age bracket from each of the TBF's six geographic divisions. Weights will be zeroed Aug. 16 as six anglers in the 11 to 14 age bracket and six anglers in the 15 to 18 age bracket continue competition, with the winners determined by the heaviest catch from that day. Qualifying for the 2008 TBF National Guard Junior World Championship will take place between January and July, 2008. The National Guard Junior World Championship allows The Bass Federation's brightest upcoming anglers to elevate their game and be spotlighted during the Forrest Wood Cup, which drew a record crowd of more than 60,000 people over the course of the event in 2007, said FLW/TBF Programs Manager David Simmons. It's such a great way to enhance the FLW Outdoors/TBF partnership and provide an experience of a lifetime for the next generation of anglers and their families. Of course, none of this would be possible without the hard work and support of TBF youth directors and parents nationwide. First-place finishers in each age bracket will receive a $5,000 scholarship in addition to a sponsor merchandise package. Second-place finishers will receive $3,000 scholarships plus sponsor packages. Third-place finishers will receive $2,500 scholarships plus sponsor packages. Fourth-place finishers will receive $2,000 scholarships plus sponsor packages. Fifth-place finishers will receive $1,500 scholarships plus sponsor packages. Sixth-place finishers will receive $1,000 scholarships plus sponsor packages. Additionally, FLW Outdoors, on behalf of the National Guard, will award $1,000 to each of the state TBF chapters represented by the six finalists in each age bracket. This money, totaling $12,000, will benefit each chapter's youth program. The eventual champions will also be featured in an episode of FLW Outdoors, which airs nationwide on FSN (Fox Sport Net), in Canada on WFN (World Fishing Network) and to more than 429 million households in the United Kingdom, Europe, Russia, Australia, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East through a broadcasting agreement with Matchroom Sport. FLW Outdoors is also broadcast to more than 800,000 servicemembers stationed around the world in 177 countries and aboard Navy ships by the American Forces Network. Check local listings for show times. It's a thrill for me to work with our youth directors and children nationwide on the National Guard Junior World Championship, which provides much needed international recognition for the positive activities, like fishing, pursued by America's youth, said TBF National Youth Director Mark Gintert. Nothing less than the best is good enough for our young anglers, and that is exactly what we intend to provide in 2008 and for many years to come. Past National Guard Junior World Championship winners Josh Wagy of Dewitt, Va., and Shane Lehew of Charlotte, N.C., have gone on to compete successfully in the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League and the Stren Series. For more information about TBF Junior Angler programs, contact your state's TBF chapter. A list of chapters can be found at www.bassfederation.com. The Duke Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 As far as women thy compete in all the flw Tournaments along side the men. And that's better than giving them their own circuit (Women's Bassmaster Tour) and exposure?? Sorry, but that's just ignorant. I guess I'm speaking out of my element a bit on the Junior Championships. None of you made a great argument that FLW's is better than BASS's b/c you all fail to point out the major differences. I do understand and support the beef of taking traveling money away after it was promised (I'd like to see where it was promised though). But I cannot speak 1 is better than the other, but you've sorely tried to prove your point. Since when are 15 amateurs competing in the FLW Championship? Realize I'm talking about club fishermen, not weekend series, etc. B/c naturally the BASS count would go up as well. I'm talking about Club Fishermen and last I checked only 1 fished it as opposed to BASS's 6. The FLW package for TBF is not any better than what BASS gave. Someone please explain otherwise. Don't simply tell me so... As far as the pro's go. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but out of 200+ fishermen on the FLW circuit 25% (Top 50) make $10,000 or more in each event. That is awesome! I truly think FLW is a fine organization. But BASS events give 50% (Top 50) out of 100+ $10,000. Let's do the math people. I think the Stren Series is certainly more friendly to the average layman than the BASS Opens, but its meant to be that way. The Opens for BASS are created to find the next pro's for the Elites. Face it guys; FLW is second to BASS. There are no if's, and's or but's about it. But thank you for the ignorant responses. And please do not send me PMs to argue. How immature can we get?
Bass Hole Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 All 15 spots I talked about go to club anglers. And the woman in the WPT are at the pro level not the club level. I am not speaking of the PRO's I don't know what thy get or not nor do I care. And as far as ignorance I am not speaking out of it but it seems you are. You asked what does FLW do better than BASS I gave you two examples and you tried your best to discount them and your entitled to your opinion but the facts are in black and white if you bother to look for them. But some people only see what thy want. So I'll say again this is the run down on what the federations get from BASS and FLW you be the judge on who gets more and who doesn't. and remember the woman you speak of do not qualify from the federations thy are at the pro level. FLW) 15 chances to advance BASS) 6 chances to advance FLW) JR world championships At the FLW cup BASS) JR championship an the federation nationals FLW)100+ JR"S at the world championships BASS) 12 JR'S at the championships FLW) Travel expense money for the JR's BASS) no travel money for the JR'S NEED I SAY MORE! And one more thing I in no way shape or form Have I insulted you. The only ignorant one here is you. That what happens when a lesser man starts to lose a battle. We'll your fighting a battle you cant win Becuse ESPN/BASS is on your side and thy have proven how thy stand behind the fedration anglers and the JR's so don't get mad. Just go polish your BASS shield.
Super User Tin Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 The PM was not an arguement in any way, it was acctually the goods and bads of both. I also wanted your hear more of your thoughts. It wasn't me jamming my opinions down your throat. If you took it that way sorry. Did you even read it? lol. And ignorant??? LMAO!! I won't even go there. This is just a thread that is going to go round and round. So I'm out.
