Bassnajr Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hey all... I know the majority are peed off right now at B.A.S.S. with good reason but I taped my fishing shows this morning and watched both Bassmasters and FLW Outdoors. Is it my imagination or is a majority the FLW broadcast ads and non-fishing garbage??? Don't get me wrong I like FLW. The guys seem more like regular Joe's you'd meet at the local bass pond. More fishing less ad bombardment. PS Does anyone have a status on the Junior Championship situation? Any fallout or response from B.A.S.S. ??? AJR
cbfishalot Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 PS Does anyone have a status on the Junior Championship situation? Any fallout or response from B.A.S.S. ??? AJR Are you talking about how BASS just told the junior championship qualifers that they will not be fishing with the pros at the classic and changed the dates? Â I know that alot of people are not very happy at all. Â What have you heard in your part of the country?
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted December 19, 2007 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted December 19, 2007 I prefer the BASS telecasts. Mark Z and co seem to be more interesting than the flw guys. I taped both this weekend came to that realization.. Â That segment on "all around town" or whatever they call it is irritating. My favorite is either WGFS. or Hank Parker..I can't decide
The Duke Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I rank BASS ahead of FLW in nearly everything. I'm not mad at them at all, not sure why many others would be either.
Super User Tin Posted December 20, 2007 Super User Posted December 20, 2007 I rank BASS ahead of FLW in nearly everything. I'm not mad at them at all, not sure why many others would be either. Lol, do you live under a rock? Â :-? Someone bleeds blue and gold.
StatosDadRI Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 PS Does anyone have a status on the Junior Championship situation? Any fallout or response from B.A.S.S. ??? AJR
The Duke Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Lol, do you live under a rock? Â Huh Someone bleeds blue and gold. I don't get it; Blue & gold? Yes, I am a Notre Dame fan if that's what you're getting at. I imagine you're bitter at BASS for something, like a lot of others. But I've never heard a legitimate reason. Maybe you can enlighten me. There is not one thing FLW does better than BASS; except lie to the TBF. FLW is much better at that.
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 21, 2007 Super User Posted December 21, 2007 I'm not mad at BASS or FLW. It's ESPN that might be the ANTI-CHRIST. ESPN has done more to destablizise the fishing(And All Other Sports) than anything that has come along in the last 40 years. I hate them. Have not watched sportcenter in over 10 years. The first that needs to go is Chris Berman, and then I have a long list of others that will have to go before I ever watch it again. The biggest misinformation you will ever hear starts with the following...ESPN is reporting that..............
Super User Tin Posted December 21, 2007 Super User Posted December 21, 2007 Lol, do you live under a rock? Huh Someone bleeds blue and gold. Blue and gold... B.A.S.S. Shield FLW lie? Did you experience this first hand or hear a rumor? Robert Cartlige flew out to RI on a snowy night to answer all of our questions and concerns and guess what. Everything he said is true or has happened. B.A.S.S. better than FLW? Ok everyone has their opinion but just imagine this from a kids point of view. You just accomplished your biggest goal, you are about to live your dreams, when whoops, sorry. Change of plans. Robert Cartlige and the rest of the FLW/TBF staff are a great thing for bass fishing. Plus they are not liars and con-artests like B.A.S.S. people.
Bassattackr Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I rank BASS ahead of FLW in nearly everything. I'm not mad at them at all, not sure why many others would be either. Thats interesting. Â This coming year will be my 3rd year fishing BFL and I think its one of the best run/organized tournaments for the entry level tournament angler. Â Just look at any BASS weekend series entry counts compared to BFL, they're always quite a bit less, at least in missouri! Â It seems more and more anglers are putting their money to FLW, for good reasons too. Â I'm not saying I hate BASS, I love keeping up with the elite series, but they don't have near the payouts the FLW tour does..
Super User Tin Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Its amazing what a few years and few dumb moves can do, I bet a couple years ago almost everyone would have sided with B.A.S.S., crazy how times change
Super User Catt Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Once B.A.S.S. forced Ray Scott and Forrest Wood out, the organization has gone down hill ever since; ESPN's main concern is money and if that cost them fans so be it. If you want proof look at how many Pros have left for the FLW; ESPN is forcing B.A.S.S. towards Pro tournaments only.
Bass Hole Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Hey all... More fishing less ad bombardmen If you like to watch fishing on TV I'll give that to bass/ESPN but there other than bassmasters thy never last long. If your a federation angler then you have constantly have had things removed from your programs. An increase in dues and loss in services. Lol, do you live under a rock? Â Huh Someone bleeds blue and gold. I don't get it; Blue & gold? Yes, I am a Notre Dame fan if that's what you're getting at. I imagine you're bitter at BASS for something, like a lot of others. But I've never heard a legitimate reason. Maybe you can enlighten me. There is not one thing FLW does better than BASS; except lie to the TBF. FLW is much better at that. I don't know what you think flw is lying to tbf about? But at least say what you really mean unless you really don't know what you are talking about. What do you think BASS will remove next? Federation Classic spots? PS Does anyone have a status on the Junior Championship situation? Any fallout or response from B.A.S.S. ??? AJR The JR's have gotten the rug pulled out from under them thy still are not going to the classic thy still lost all the money thy put out and all future travel expenses have ben taken away. There will no longer be inviting two JR from each from each state now thy will only be inviting 12 JR's to the nationals the Classic is out. so I say again if you like to watch fishing on TV then BASS is the best for you but who knows how long that is going to last soon all there will be is the Elites and the classic without the federation anglers competing in it? so when you compare. Compare the elites to the flw series but not Zona and the others because thy won't be there long. Remember the classic will always be the holy grail? But the FLW CUP may be the only place that will still have fed guys going.
Bassnajr Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 I was just talking about the shows, but I really hit a nerve here. I have read the updates from BASS and there is no doubt that they felt the pressure from the "regular folks", and semi-changed their minds, which is good. The monies lost by families should be recouped, unfortunatly, through legal means and by NOTIFYING THE MEDIA!! I know that this has been spoken about in another thread at length so I won't go on here. Whenever money is involved things change. It's an unfortunate reality. Look at what ball players are paid. I can't take my kids to ANY games because of it. But they can't charge me to bass fish....or can they???? ajr
Super User Tin Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Can they charge you to fish? Well, the charge you for everything so why not. The almighty dollar has changed the Ray Scott's dream into, well, you can fill in the blank.
Bassnajr Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 We won't let them tin..... You experienced first hand what speaking your mind and sticking to your guns can do. Most people just saw "Oh, well..what can we do?" Remember..BASS DID change their mind because of the pressure. Maybe not a total victory, but take it from me. You take your victories where you can get them...and enjoy them!!! ajr
Bass Hole Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 bassnajr, That was not a victory. that was settleing for less. Classic? NO Elite? Yes. Reenbersment of moneys lost? NO. Less Jr spots at the world championships? YES. Travel expences? NO. More cost to the state federations and JR clubs? YES. Less cost to BASS/ESPN? YES. Were is the victory? I don't see it.
Bassnajr Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 Dude... It was David vs. Goliath....and Goliath blinked!!! I didn't say it was a TOTAL victory and there is still the matter of making the families monetarily whole. People spoke..and they listened!!! Do you realize how big that is?? That's why I say sometimes the smallest victories are actually the biggest. Merry XMAS Alan
Bass Hole Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Merry xmas To you to. Still not much of a victory to me. I see none at all. if your in a winner take all tournament and you come in second what did you win? Nothing. Sorry just cabin fever getting to me.
Super User Tin Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 How is this considered a victory???? Ok they can fish with pro's, but there will not nearly as many kids fishing and they took away travel $$$. It was a draw if that. And I think all the uproar that is going to happened, has happened. So don't think much more will be accomplished  :'(. So, sorry, used to love most things about B.A.S.S., but an organization that cares about nothing but $$ and could care less who it hurts in the process of making $$$ is an organization I will have nothing to do with.
Bassnajr Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 tin, As I said above, it is not a TOTAL victory. Don't get me wrong, I won't be sending B.A.S.S. a fruit basket or anything!! And I don't think they changed anything because of the kids, far from it. Any change was because of potential lost $$$$. As you know, I have just begun my tournament fishing pending my (hopefully soon) retirement. I would hate to work my way up and have any kind of association dump on me or change the rules in the middle of things. What stinks is people (and businesses) change rules in the middle all the time. I'll tell you a good one involving me when I see you. IMO, you have to take the victories, as tiny as they are, when they come. A healthy protest doesn't hurt either!!! ajr
The Duke Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Apparently, we're quicker to criticize than to find legitimate complaints. I asked someone to explain to me why FLW is better than BASS. No one has done this yet, I've been called uneducated in my assessment. I guess I need explanation on this too. Someone please tell me about FLW's junior championship... Is that better than what BASS offers? I don't know what you think flw is lying to tbf about? But at least say what you really mean unless you really don't know what you are talking about. What do you think BASS will remove next? Federation Classic spots? FLW lied to TBF b/c they said they offer more & better than BASS does. I'm still waiting for an improvement for the members. They offer nothing more. In fact, the only difference is that BASS sends 6 federation members to the classic while FLW sends 1. Someone enlighten me what they offer that is better than BASS. Some of you bite so quickly, but forget to realize that BASS made it clear that the professional division (Elite) is their primary focus for now. And it should be. But they still send 6 amateurs to the classic. So try to remember their primary focus before huffing & puffing over other issues. Many of you should read some books from the professionals. Check out Iaconelli's. He clearly states that ESPN has made MAJOR improvements to BASS & fishing altogether. And forgive me, but I take his advice far more seriously than yours. Why is Mark Davis returning to BASS??? And why aren't any pros leaving BASS since the inaugural Elite Series??? By the way, what has FLW done for women in bass fishing? FLW is a fine organization and I hope to see them grow more. They have my full support. But they are in the back seat in comparison to BASS. I don't know why this upsets so many of you, but it is the reality of the situation.
Super User Tin Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 Is the FLW Junior Championship better than B.A.S.S.'s? Yes I have competed in both and FLW's show is much better than B.A.S.S.'s. The kids and their families are stay for the entire Forrest L. Wood Cup, they offer travel assistance, and they acctually make it for the kids. They through lots of party's before and afterwards, instead of a night before dinner which they also do. As many parents have said, they make the kids feel special, all are called on stage during the final say weigh in of the FLW Cup, and the winners from each age group weigh-in during the final day of the FLW Cup. And as far as the tournament goes, it is a qualifying day, then a Super-6 type day for day 2. Which I along with many others who have fished it liked much more than B.A.S.S.'s. As for the rest, PM sent.
