Auten had three limits from Wheeler that came on a Rad Lures' Chatterbait tipped with a pearl Zoom Superfluke

Nice to see the rad lures Chatterbait back in the money.

For those of you brand new to bass fishing, the Chatterbait was THE hot lure for 2006.

The feeding frenzy over the basstrix paddle tail is exactly what happened last year with the chatterbait.

Then, after about a dozen knockoffs the popularity of the bait simply vanished.

I haven't heard about one being in the money in a major tournament for a long time.

But as you can see the pro's are still throwing it, and in spite of all the claims........the original is still the winner.

I love Gaston, but have never caught a single fish with the chatterbait there! At the occoquan reservoir, thats a different story  ;)

Chatterbaits are fun to throw, especially if you like the vibrations. ;)

They still produce in ponds and the local Virginia rivers.

The blue/black color seems to do the best although chartruse has been productive.

Only problem I have with the original Chatterbait is that the hooks are not as sharp as I would like to have them so I sharpen the hooks before using them.

The only fish I have caught on chatterbaits have been an 8.5lb long-nosed gar and a 25lb catfish. These were both caught in Northern Virginia.

never gained much confidence throwing the chatter bait.    MY girl friend has and likes me to tie one on alot.        Her best on Sam Rayburn is from the Chatter bait.   4lbs, she lost a money fish the same day at the boat.

Not much experience last year in April bassin.    She has seen the master flip many of bass in the boat, but never seen me flip one around 6-7 pounds which she attempted to do.    That was a big bass splash, so that fish could have won an hour or took a tenth place, you never know for sure.   Could have been 1000 or 200 bucks for the hour.    Lesson learned!!!!

I bought one of the original chatterbaits at a Gander Mountain when they went on sale and had absolutely no luck with them and did not use them for the longest time.  I got a Karu Lures Vibrashock(same thing different design) and you can really tell the difference.  The blade hits the head wich makes a tick-tick-tick the whole way back to the boat that draws fish from a long ways and helps them home in on it.  I started catching a lot of fish and it soon became the only bait I would throw.  Just an awesome bait and nothing has even come close.

Since last spring I've been a fan of Chatterbaits, mostly the originals.  I like the action the most - you can work it really slowly.

Red/white is a top producer here in the spring.

Really glad to see that it did well in that tourney  :)

I fished the tourney at wheeler against some awfully good sticks...one of which was  Auten. For insight I offer this. The fish were schoolin and a spinner bait as well as any shad type bait got you a limit. The water was as clear as I'd ever seen it on the main river, but was mud in Flint, and stained in the other creeks, such as Elk. The chatter worked better in that.  It was quite windy and frontal conditions changing from one day to next. Cloudy, rain, sun. I guess what I'm trying to say is,... as always is much the case,  the right bait matched to the conditions and pattern always produces fish! Don't get hung on one do-all bait or you'll be disappointed...T.A. doesn't I'm sure.
