I know there are some Jimmy houston fans. ;)I like Jimmy houston's outdoors episodes, where he fishes on the show,it looks more like real regular places that he fishes. This guy likes to joke around alot but he's one of the elite.America's Favorite Fisherman.

Who taught me to fish ? in the absolute defintion of the word nobody taught me to fish, none in my family is a fisherman so I didn 't have the benefit of having a dad, grandpaw or an uncle teaching me how to fish.

But I can say that reading what JH, RM, BD, RC, DH wrote sure helped me a lot.

I have met a number of big names in the bass fishing world and I would have to say with out a doubt that Jimmy Houston is the nicest and most down to earth of the bunch.

Jimmy Houston started the sick trend of kissing fish....I know it's not right but sometimes when I catch a big ol' girl I catch myself leaning in for a kiss.... :-* I blame years of watching Jimmy Houston for this!

Jimmy Houston is my favorite of the pros I see on TV all the time.  I never understand how a person could be that happy all the time though, even on the lake.

One thing I appreciate about his show is that he's not one of those guys who shamelessly pushes certain products (hi Roland!).  He does endorse products (RoadRunner, Terminator, CC Wally Diver, etc), but doesn't shove them in your face like Roland Martin, and Jimmy's show is very educational.  He really seems to make educating viewers one of the main points of his show, much like Lindner's Angling Edge.  It seems the point of Roland's show is to push products and catch huge bass (more than his fishing partner) on private lakes.  I can't freakin' stand the plugs Roland gives on his show, mainly because some of them are so planned and blatant.  I mentioned one time on another post that he put Mega Strike all over a big dead baitfish when he was fishing for Jewfish in Florida.  Ridiculous!  Mega Strike is great, but let's get serious.  Didn't mean for this post to be a bashing of Roland, but anyway...

And yes, I have kissed some of my fish thanks to Jimmy Houston.

We have the FLW Tour come through my town every year.  I never knew Jimmy was involved with FLW I guess.  So me and my son are sitting in the truck eating lunch and waiting for the FLW Expo to open the gates.  Then I see a fella in a Yukon drive by me and I thought, "that looked like Jimmy Houston."  So a minute later, here comes Jimmy Houston walking through the parking lot as I'm trying to wolf down a sandwich before the Expo.

With food in my mouth, I told my son "THAT'S JIMMY HOUSTON!" :o  He was only 5 and had no idea who Jimmy Houston was.  I turned to see if I had anything worth signing and I had nothing in the truck.  I figured I'd leave him alone and not be one of those hounding fans.

So here comes a kid running through the parking lot with a Sharpie and a hat.  Jimmy smiles, shakes his hand, signs the hat and the kid said thanks.  Jimmy was on his way in the Expo looked just as nice as he could be.

On another note, a lady I worked with was neighbors with Jimmy's old neighbors.  So she see's Jimmy Houston one day (she used to work for Zebco) and she introduced herself.  She told him that they had a mutal friend and he was very excited to hear about his old neighbors.  She said that he was a very nice guy and his neighbors had nothing but nice things to say about him.  After all, he grew up next door to the couple.  So, Jimmy must have been raised right.

I have a lot of respect for Jimmy.  His books are great too, and bottom line he just seems like a great person.  I'd love the opportunity to fish with him someday.

Gidget has the fish kissing down pat. :)

I've met Jimmy a couple of times now and he is genuinely a nice guy! His shows and seminars are entertaining but the last time I saw him in a seminar he talked about everything except fishing the majority of the time. I was really disappointed with that seminar.   :-/

Ya but he probably had you crying you were laughing so hard. Him and Swindle should start a comedy club. The last seminar I saw him at he was two hours late because of 14 inches of snow we were getting, and he just talked about how bad our weather was and told "Yankee" jokes.

Jimmy was an outstanding presenter at the Bassmaster University progams.

Always informaive, friendly and shared some very funny stories.

If you want to learn more from Jimmy you can get his DVD, Jimmys Best Ever. It is excellent.

Jimmy is a wonderful ambassador for our sport.

I was watching Jimmy Houston outdoors the other day and he kissed this big bass. The only problem was it had a dead bluegill in its mouth.
