Super User 5bass Posted September 15, 2007 Super User Posted September 15, 2007 Skeet sealed it up today at Toho. Congratulations to him on a great year and having nerves of steel while being chased down by KVD. Way to go Skeet, thats one heck of an accomplishment! Quote
preach4bass Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I'm a KVD fan, but Skeet is a great fisherman. He's been good for a long time, it just hasn't shown up in the accolades until now. Congrats Skeet! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 17, 2007 Super User Posted September 17, 2007 ;D ;D ;D ;D WOW! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-) Quote
eastkybass Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 He deserves it. He fished good from begining to end. Congrats. Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Congrats to Skeet, a great guy and awesome angler. He had a great year and is most deserving of this title. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 18, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 18, 2007 Who won the tourney? Ben Matsubu Yeah, Matsubu smoked 'em Sunday Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 18, 2007 Super User Posted September 18, 2007 For some reason, I just don't care for Reese. Perhaps it is his California personality. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 18, 2007 Super User Posted September 18, 2007 AOY had me watching very closely as the year started. It had nice twist with early dates for the west coast boys to get the jump. I was very impressed to see KVD hanging around the top after the western swing. AOY set up nicely for Kevin, he stayed close to Skeet on Skeets home waters so to speak, and that set-up KVD to make his run on the northern swing. You'd think KVD would put this one away on his northern waters. Impressed with Skeet for sealing the deal. I'm gonna throw this one out there again. The past few years, the young guns so to speak got all the press, and everyone was tired of seeing IKE and some others getting the camera time. NOTE: If you aren't making the cuts, you don't get as much TV time. It just shows that all the negative remarks towards ESPN for only giving these guys more exposure was a crock. Hookem Matt Quote
Shad_Master Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Matt Fly you are right and this is probably a topic for another thread - but when you look at the guys who are not qualified for the Classic and may not be able to qualify for the Elite series next year it kinda makes you wonder. When the world's "Greatest Angler" can't fish the classic, in my world something's wrong. Is it time for a Senior Circuit like they have in golf? BTW -- I am tickled to see Skeet get it and the race was awsome. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 19, 2007 Super User Posted September 19, 2007 I heard the last part of an interview with Skeet on XM Radio last night and I had no idea what tournament they were discussing as the questions and answers were not making sense. I think it was an interview after he assured himself of the Angler of the Year Award. Makes more sense now that I know what the interview was about. Glad to see him win it. Quote
Bob Kavanaugh Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Skeet has the worst luck ever. How many times can a man finish second. He truly is a great angler, and now he has something to show for it. Quote
Branuss04 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Gotta give the man credit. He hung in there and was so close so many times, he definately deserves it. And I also live super close to him too so I may be a little biased. ;D Quote
squid Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 For some reason, I just don't care for Reese. Perhaps it is his California personality. Yet that is why I do like him....lol I live out there for 11 yrs...LOVE every minute of it. Just wished I had taken up bass fishing over there....cause I now regret never fishing those lakes. Quote
