OcBassman63 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I see in an earlier post you covered deep cranks. My question is what colors are Best for deep cranking? Quote
noxpertjim Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I've had good results with perch, hot mustard and red craw. Quote
bassnleo Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Chartruese w/ blue back, shad, pearl white. My color choice would depend on water clarity and sunlight. I do use a few others but the colors above are my go to color combos. Quote
basspro48 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 My choice depends on water clarity and season, but my most productive colors have been rootbeer and chartreuse/blue back. Quote
Gorgebassman Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 My all time favorite is what luhr Jensen called a clear water flash which they no longer make I probibly have the last dozen in existance. I am also fond of the Tennessee shad color brown back white or silver belly. Quote
CJ Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I like to throw something with chartuese in it. Water clarity is the main factor with color selection(I believe this to be true with all lures) along with where or what you are fishing. Quote
Chris Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 shad, yellow black back, chrome blue back, all white, all black, gold green back, blue back chart, Quote
Infidel. Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 A red craw pattern, a shad pattern, and a chartreuse pattern. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I use several color patterns.A red craw pattern,a darker brown w/burnt orange craw, shad patterns in silver/black,silver/blue,chartreuse/blue,and a bream/perch color pattern. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 24, 2007 Super User Posted January 24, 2007 Taking a couple of factors into consideration, I'm going to say it doesn't matter. I think most would consider anything over 15' to be deep cranking. In the majority of bass water, clarity will prevent any but the longer wavelengths of light from reaching those depths. Not many colors will actual be percieved as colors. Im ny opinion, vibration and sound would be the most important factors to consider for deep cranking, and these factors would be the ones to be experimented with, rather than colors. Just my fifth of dimes worth. I don't do much deep cranking. Cheers, GK Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 24, 2007 Super User Posted January 24, 2007 I tend to agree with Ghoti. We always here how colors turn to shades of gray after a certain depth. It makes sense that sound would be a more important factor. Nice post Gary. Falcon Quote
bitman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I agree with Maltese and Ghoti quite a bit. In colder water I like a Bomber Fat Free Shad in Rootbeer float color and in warmer water I like a Norman DD22 in Rootbeer color. Both colors are pretty much exactly the same but I like the tighter wobble of the Bomber with the waters colder. Ill also throw in the DD22 Rootbeer suspending model occasionally. I like the natural hues of the rootbeer color cranks alot. JMHO DannyG Quote
