Super User burleytog Posted June 19, 2007 Super User Posted June 19, 2007 UMF: BASS vs. FLW 6/18/2007 The 2007 version of Ultimate Match Fishing will debut on the Outdoor Channel on July 2, and this year's winner's-bracket round will feature Bassmaster Elite Series pros squaring off against FLW Tour anglers. The first six episodes will pit anglers against others from their own circuit at Alabama's Lake Guntersville. Here are the opening-round matchups: > Elite Series Kelly Jordon vs. Dave Wolak; Greg Hackney vs. Boyd Duckett; Zell Rowland vs. Jason Quinn. > FLW Tour Larry Nixon vs. Gabe Bolivar; Anthony Gagliardi vs. Dave Lefebre; Luke Clausen vs. Brent Ehrler. Winners will advance to take on an angler from the other circuit, and the series finale will feature a two-part championship match. After the first round, all competition will take place at Kentucky Lake. The total prize purse is $103,000, with $50,000 going to the winner. As always, UMF will place two competing anglers in the same boat, with each getting the front of the boat for half of the fishing day. The back-of-the-boat angler will be prohibited from moving to or fishing from the front half of the boat, and vice versa for the angler who has the bow. Anglers will switch positions every 90 minutes over four periods. Veteran angler Joe Thomas will again serve as host of the series. "The NFL has the Super Bowl, Major League Baseball has the World Series, now it's time to bring together the top pro bass anglers from the FLW and BASS for a showdown on the water," he said. "And Ultimate Match Fishing is the best way to do it. The line has been drawn between these two premier tournament trails, and the only place to see them clash one-on-one is on the Outdoor Channel." The show will air at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. EST as part of the Outdoor Channel's new Monday Night Fishing Block. http://another site/docktalk.asp?id=3824#3824 Quote
carySE406 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Very very interesting, except no KVD, Ike, Skeet, G-Man, or Clunn. I think FLW has a slight advantage. Quote
cbfishalot Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I can't wait to watch I have watched last years matches about 10 times each. I would say it will be a toss-up but I must say Luke Clausen is my front runner. Quote
jdw174 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 My question is why are they fishing FLW vs FLW and BASS vs BASS thru the eliminations? Why not make it FLW vs BASS all the way thru to the finals? Of course, it could end up being FLW vs FLW or vice versa in the finals..... Quote
jaskoh Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I didn't get to see last years shows. Is there a lot of smack talking with this format (all in good fun type)? It would seem to me that when your competiting against someone in the same boat as you it would start up some fun conversations. Either way, I need to remind myself somehow to watch this. Quote
Cephkiller Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Without Ike and Swindle, who is the favorite for throwing the cry baby fit this year? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 24, 2007 Author Super User Posted June 24, 2007 Quinn or Clausen? I don't know much about a few of the FLW guys, but the BASS guys are all pretty straight up. I'd like to see an old timer's UMF. Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, etc. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I cant believe Chigger aint in there, Id like to see Chigger against Larry the cable guy. Quote
bassnleo Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Without Ike and Swindle, who is the favorite for throwing the cry baby fit this year? I hate to say it but out of that group my cash would be on Lefebre. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 13, 2007 Author Super User Posted July 13, 2007 Well, the first two matchups have come and gone. Kelly Jordan was a bit of a ***** when he was in the back seat. Find myself liking Duckett more and more. He's just a cool customer. Fishing hasn't been all that good though. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Without Ike and Swindle, who is the favorite for throwing the cry baby fit this year? when was ike crying? Quote

Super User burleytog Posted July 18, 2007 Author Super User Posted July 18, 2007 I don't care for the way they've changed the show this year. I like seeing a running tally when each fisher boats a fish. I also like seeing the final weights for each competitor. Both are no more. They've 'slicked' the show up a bit and it just isn't as good as last season. IMO they should do an hour for each match-up. Then again, these first three have been pretty slow, would be hard to fill up an hour. Quote
kbj3579 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 So you think the old guys can't hang with the young guns? Did you all watch this weeks UMF? Mr. Nixon put it on the former dirt bike racing young gun. I like Gabe so don't think I'm bashing him, but the experience from years of fishing, and especially fishing Guntersville truly showed in this match up. Larry picked up his worm and took Gabe to school. One of the very best shows I've seen in UMF. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted July 27, 2007 Bolivar only had a day and a half to practice, while I'm sure Nixon has fished that pond more than a few times. It was fun to watch. Quote

I hate to say it but out of that group my cash would be on Lefebre. Your cash would be safe. Lefebre has been the biggest ***** thus far this season. Quote
