Guest avid Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I think these posts are kinda funny. We get soooooooooooooo self righteous about guys like Roland Martin and bill dance, and now ike because they endorse products WE don't believe in. Like this is something new and unheard of in the world. Please - Do you think tiger Woods' favorite car is really a Buick? Quote
spotaholic Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Avid, Great point. Living in Augusta GA I get to go to the Masters every year. Several years ago Tiger being sponsored by Nike and doing adds for the clubs shows up playing Mizuno Irons and Titliest Driver, Wedges and Putter. I have several people I know that have or are competing at the highest level in fishing that are sponsored by one company but fish other equipment. It's kind of funny that this topic is coming up because I had a discussion with a friend over Ford, Chevy and Dodge and talked about my Grandfather who was a high roller with GM but always drove a Crown Victoria ( non GM product). I don't think Ike is a sell out ( No Man Crush) but like has been said maybe it was the $$$$ that helped out not the product. Either way great fisherman and great with the fans. Quote
G3-Basser Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Ummmm....I guess it was a mistake to trade in all of my curados for a new set of Rocket Fishing Rods??? That darned Roland Martin!!!!!!!!!!!!! -J Quote

Guest avid Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I think it's funny that nobody mention that ALL the speaker crap is like CHEATING I'm not sure why the biosonix is cheating, but using a depthfinder that will print out exactly where the fish are holding isn't? Most pro's I have listened to have consistantly said that finding the fish is the difficult part. Once they are located catching them is relatively easy. The modern depth finder will actually give you an image of the structure and help you locate the fish. The biosonix, allegedly stimulates feeding behavior, something most pros don't seem to worry about too much. I think the Concept of using audible stimuli to motivate the fish probably has merit. I'm just not sure the biosonix is the "edge" that will make an average fisherman into a champion. It that were the case the $800.00 would be a bargain. Quote

powerman970 Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I have decided to list my integrity for sale for $800.00 so I can use the money to purchase a product that someone else may or may not have sold there integrity to endorse. Then we will see if it really works or not. In the grand scheme of things, who cares???? I own a Stratos boat but if Ranger offers me 50 grand to go on tv and say how great their boats are I'd be all over it. Then I would continue to fish from a Stratos. If I don't sponsor it someone else will so I might as well take the cash. It is not a matter of integrity. It is a business decision and Ike may be telling the truth when he says he could not have won without it. Think about it, maybe what he meant was I needed some quick cash and without it I may not have been able to concentrate on my fishing that weekend. Therefor he could not have won without it. Quote
Guest avid Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I'm going to make one more post then leave this thread who still care. There are ALOT of pro bass fishing wannabe's out there. All they seem to talk about is how to get sponsers. I know guys will contact the company's whose products they use, but as we have seen right here on BassResource.com guys see a new bait company and immedicately contatct them for sponsorship. They have never used the bat. They "sell" themselves based on their resume, exposure, tournament wins, # of tournaments fished. etc. Let me say it again. THEY HAVE NEVER USED THE BAITS. It's business. Tiger sells buicks, I'm sure he owns one but you can bet theres' also a a Lambo in the garage. Michael Jordan sells hanes, I don't doubt he has drawers full of tightie whities, but you can bet he gets he has monogramed silks Let's face it guys, if bass pro's couldn't scratch out a living via endorsements, there probably wouldn't be professional bassin' Quote
