A friend of mine is buying a boat soon(possibly tonight).  He has been lookin at a 18' with a 150HP on the back.  We are wanting to start fishin in some small tournys around here and we know where there are a few at and a couple people who fish in them.  What all will we need to get started in tourny fishing?

1.  Fishing Tackle

2.  Boat with livewell that WORKS!

3.  Entry fee.

That about covers it.  Can't think of anything else you need to get started in fishing tx's.  Don't forget the necessary safety gear for each angler.

When he says the livewell should work...not just fill up with water.  The aerators must work too.

You might want an anchore or a drift sock if the places you fish are big and the wind blows you around.  Also the anchor lets people know they have to stay further away from you if it is down and your trolling motor is up.  A good trolling motor.  If you are fishing as a team..then only bring 5-7 rods each.

I'll add #4- Working kill switch. The tournaments I fish always check before blast off.]

The boat I mentioned didnt go through...it wouldnt plane out when he took it out.  We will be doing both team tournys and then single person tournys.  Between the both of us we have probably everything that you can think of tacklewise.  I know by the time he gets a boat knowing him it will atleast have a working livewell and good trolling motor.
