Well, I guess he's not winning everything but there are a lot of gifted anglers in the Elite series.  He is in fifth place for AOY 62 points behind leader Skeet Reese.  The second, third, and fourth place anglers aren't super, big names so I guess he's not doing too badly.  Consistency is the name of the game for AOY.  Here are the standings.

He has been pretty consistent this year.  Putting yourself in a position to win isn't easy, but he seems to be right in there almost every week.  With the talent out there right now I think an elite angler is doing well just to get one win a year.

KVD is my boy.  id say hes doing pretty good myself... i mean third place at the bassmaster classic aint too shaby!

He hasn't won anything lately? He's still the poster boy for Bass. Kind of curious. One minute, he's the Tiger Wood of bass fishing, then the next, he can't put a win together. Thoughts?

I'm not much of a golfer, but I'd say that Tiger Woods is the KVD of golf.  They have a couple of important things in common:

1.  Neither man wins every event they enter.

2.  Any time they enter an event, everyone's trying to beat them because they are the best at their sports in the world.

3.  If either man goes for over a month without winning a tournament there's a bunch talk on the internet about how they haven't done anything lately ;D

Ding, ding, ding!

The fact that KVD is as good as he is forces everyone to raise the elevation of their game to another level.  When that happens, winning becomes even more difficult even for someone of KVD's talent.

He is sitting 5th...and it is the begining of the season.....give the guy some credit...got a lot of big names to contend with too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big KVD fan as my post on bassresource.com will attest to.  I was just wondering why he isn't winning tournaments like he was in 2005.

He was in the hunt for AOY last year also.

1 thing that amazes me about KVD is he always seems to be in the hunt. How many top 12 finishes has he had the past 2 years? Also, the past 2 classics he was in the hot seat on the last day for a period of time. I also expected him to post a win by now since Pittsburgh, but he's come close so many times and few have been as successful as him the past 2 years.

KVD is a top player.  He is in 5th place for AOY and there's still plenty of time.

To even consider his recent performances a slump would be wrong.

He is fishing well and at any time can explode with a big win.

Hey New Bass Man, KVD must have read your post last night and got mad.  He went out and caught a nice sack today and is sitting in third place after day one on Guntersville! ;D

That's what im talking about!   KVD is still on top!!!!  Now to all of you who said hes not so good... think again!

Wow, what a timely thread! :o

KVD wins a tournament and is sitting in 2nd for AOY.

Yes, indeed.  Very timely.

How about Ish Monroe in 4th place?  I'd like to see him maintain his high level in the AOY standings.

Yep, he could've thrown his kicker back on the final day and still won the thing.

funny how you said he hadn't won anything in a while and then he pulls 66-3 on Guntersville, beating his closest competitor Mark Tucker by seven pounds and two ounces. Funny how that works huh?

Well, I guess the next fisherman I'm pondering is Skeet Reese.  It about time for him to win one.  Then of course, I always enjoy Ike.

But KVD is my man.  He represents the sport extremely well.  That actually was my point of bring it this up.  He is always used as the poster boy for bass, even though it had been a long time between wins.  I tell you this, if he gets hot, the Angler of the Year honors is his and his alone.

KVD id the Man!  the best thing about him is that he is so good BASS has no choice but to promote him even though he refuses to act like an idiot (you know who you are and I'm not just talking about Ike).
