Haha @Choporoz, I wa just thinking the same thing. Whatever happened to that Christie guy, wonder if it's true he could only win at Grand...

Hindsight is 20/20 but this thread has aged...uniquely.

For real, ive tried to contact fish chris a couple times with no luck. Seems like he actually quit fishing, I saw some youtube videos of him doing car audio or something like that.

It would be awesome if some of the old schooler would give their opinion on this

Excellent reboot. Be awesome if we could get @Mattlures @Supermat and @Fish Chris to come back for a cameo appearance to give their thoughts.

Yes it would They were all such staunch supporters of Mike Long.

Mike Long had a big following of trophy bass anglers and John Kerr was legitimate making it easy to get duped.

Long would go around at the Bass A Thon and collect custom made swimbaits from several of the top lure makers they all believed he was the top trophy bass angler.

The wheels started to come off in 2014.

He must be popular out west. I have never heard of him until this all came along.

The negative publicity is getting him attention throughout the bass fishing community.

After all of this attention, I suppose he will write his memoirs and make a lot of money from that.

There's a bit of a difference between Mikey and Capt. McCord...the Capt. was innocent.

(Ya, I watched that series when I was a kid)

It is almost pointless to fish against them.

Yes, it is pointless to fish against a cheater.

2  days before this tournament Mike went to lake he has only fished a couple times and caught the lake record.

Mike Long is the single greatest bass angler that has ever fished.

Lake records come easy for the "single greatest bass anglers that has ever fished"  smh

Thanks for bringing this old thread up!

Chuck Connors is one of 13 athletes ever to play both baseball and basketball at the highest pro levels.  He was also in one of my all time favorite TV shows, The Rifleman.

It is illegal to intentially snag fish in California, Michigan and New York, possibly a few other states. So everyone who see's the video with Long intentionally trying to snag bass thinking it's unsportsman like, it is IMO but it's not uncommon practice in most states.

Dottie the 25.1 lb LMB isn't the world record bass because she was snagged in California's lake Dixon with a white jig on top of the head and observers blew the whistle  on the anglers. Trap rigged lures with treble hooks are not illegal in California if only 3 hooks are used, hooking any fish outside it's mouth is illegal anytime.

Coincidentally apropos of next to nothing, one of the competitors in my local yak club got busted last week, too.  Not exactly certain, but it sounds like he was doing the digital age version of moving fish -- I think he was catching them outside tourny waters (or tourny times) and messing with the digital photo meta data to make it look like he was in compliance.  Guy's going to have trouble getting near another tournament around here for years.

Ya

what about the night derby at San V when Mike rolled in right at time to launch and left  three hours early weighing in

3 fish for 24 pounds

I'm sure many of y'all were there!

yup i saw that on social media.  Dude seemed like he was also changing fish ID tags as well and using other people's fish.  It is part of the reason i don't do tournaments but I am kind of itching to do them for some reason....

Nothing suspicious here guys, I always bring my laptop out in the yak with me.....

I had assumed that kayak tournaments gave out an identifier right before launch time to help with stuff like this?

They do.  Apparently there was some photochopping going on, too.
