Guest HookemUTbass Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Today is day one of the Elite Series on Amistad. Lake Temps have been mid to upper 50's at day break with water heating up in the 60's. Bass are cruising the shallows. Current visibility is down to 20 feet. Scroggins nailed a 14 lb plus in yesterdays practice. Scroggins didn't want to donate the fish to the SAL program, he thinks she will be there during tournament hours to be had again. I think, as long as the West Texas winds lay down as they appear to according to weather, 27 lbs a day will be needed to win this one. So far this year, all tournaments held thus far on Amistad, even in January, has taken over 30 lbs to win, with weights of 39 lbs to win individual honors already this year. Gonna be a Texas style shootout!!!! I met Kurt Dove last week, he was staying in town, I didn't ask him, but I think he might have put in a couple days on Fork. He's sponsored by Skip n Pop baits by JDC. Hope I remembered that correctly. We discussed some fishing, but left Amistad out of the topic. Any predictions? I think 108 lbs will be needed to win this one, and theres too many sticks that could put a bag like that in the boat. Hookem Matt Quote
Hale Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Scroggins has been on a roll and my predictions is that he will take it all....especially nailing a 14#+ fish. You know he didnt purposely pull her off a bed..so there is others out there to be had. Im with you, the final weights will definitely top 100#. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 8, 2007 Super User Posted March 8, 2007 WOW!!! A 14!!!!! No predictions from me. I would just like to see BIG weights. Bigger the better. Quote
Garnet Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'm pulling for the Canadain Jon Bondy. He has his back against the wall and everthing on the line. He is good for 4 tournaments. Garnet Quote
bassin_man Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Should be interesting to see. I agree with everyone else that it will take some heavy sacks to win this tournament. Is the weigh-in going to be on the internet for the Elite series to? Or was that just a one time deal with the Classic? Quote
bassin_man Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Well I did some looking and answered my own question. So I am off to do some quick shopping at Joe's and then watch a 3 pm weigh-in. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 8, 2007 Super User Posted March 8, 2007 About 1/4 the way through and Dean Rojas is on top with 27 lbs Top 8 all have over 25 lbs Quote
bassin_man Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Yup and there are still some heavy hitters that need to weigh-in still. I'm not sure who is running the real-time leaderboard but it must of been a long night for them last night, kind of slow compared to the video feed not to mention that the person they have listed as "on stage" is never right. ;D Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 8, 2007 Super User Posted March 8, 2007 How about the top 20 all over 25 lbs Quote
Javelin_Venom Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Is the weigh-in on the web like it was for the classic? If so, what's the website? If not, what are the current standings or where can I find them? Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 9, 2007 Super User Posted March 9, 2007 Yes they broadcast it just like the Classic. It's a lot easier to watch though. No fill ins and it's pretty much straight business. On average they probably weigh in one guy a minute. Here's the Day 1 Standings http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/elite/news/story?page=b-tourn-elite-delrio-standings-day1 I can't find the link to the video, but tomorrow get on the same site and start looking around for a blinking icon that says "Live Weigh-In" I think it starts around 3:00 Central Quote
L-Train Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 what happened to Kevin Short on Day 2. He had around 33 lbs on day 1 and it shows zero for day two. had to be some sort of DQ, or something. there is no way he got skunked. just wondering he is from just up the road from where I grew up Quote
Jnamo Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Newsflash-KVD in the top 5 again and making a move! I will just keep this up for the entire year ;D Quote

Super User 5bass Posted March 11, 2007 Super User Posted March 11, 2007 Okay boys......who's it going to be? I'm picking Faircloth by a pound. Quote
preach4bass Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Derek Remitz (a rookie) won it. That's good, he'll be able to fish a little more comfortably now, without having to worry so much about finances. IKE was 2nd, KVD 5th. Quote
bassin_man Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Wooohoo I had both Derek and Ike on my fantasy team! ;D To bad I only have one other angler in the top 50 and the other two that didn't make the cut or else I could of had one heck of a weekend. Congrats to Derek for a great win. Quote
Rattletrap Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 The Bassmaster.com article shows Derek Remitz from Huntsville Alabama, not Texas. Who's right? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 15, 2007 Super User Posted March 15, 2007 Derek is originally from North Branch Minnesota. After last years tour, he bought a trailer in Hempshill Texas which is located between Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend to cut down on travel. 23 years old and he's done well thus far. Matt Quote
Rattletrap Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Yep. The no-names guys are looking good so far this year. Quote
fred_eurobass Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 here's my pics of the co-angler side and the pro side. Amistad was just great, too bad I have to go home :'( Enjoy! Quote
