BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 10, 2007 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 10, 2007 Are you camping or staying at a motel? Nothing worse than camping and forgetting a coffee mug, alarm clock, or pillow. Not that any of that has happened to me. : Here's a tip - whether camping or motelling it, clear a space somewhere at your house and put the stuff you need there that you don't normally take fishing. You can get containers really cheap at Home Depot to store and organize it all. Now when you're ready to go to a tournament, just grab your fishing gear, container(s), duffle bag and get outta Dodge! frogtog Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Keep a cool level head and concentrate on fishing. Make do with what you have at hand. If you worrie to much you lose your concentration on fishing and it will make you have to run to the woods with your TP. ;D Quote
bassnleo Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 My suggestion is not so much about what to bring but when to get it all ready. There has been good responses for you to this point. When I'm readying my boat and tackle for a tournament day I do it the night before. I sit in my boat, arrange the tackle and gear, re-spool and re-tie what ever rods I'm using. Once my boat and gear are ready (including just about everyting the prior posts are mentioned) all I have to do in the morning is wake up, hook up to the boat, and leave. I found that this approach helps me sleep better as I'm not worrying about getting up in enough time to ready the boat and (or) forgetting something. If I do remember something I had forgotten to ready or include (after I'm done in the boat) I write myself a note and lay it beside my keys so I don't forget it in the morning when leaving. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 11, 2007 Super User Posted March 11, 2007 Just before the tournament,I will put my cull tags in my back pocket and have the measuring board on deck. Quote

topwtr81 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 the previous post's are great especially the last one have fun and be open minded alway's observe what's going on around you and pay attention to the most minor differences Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 13, 2007 Super User Posted March 13, 2007 I agree with Glenn. I'll lay my stuff out in open area. I like to take each event on a trip thru a dry run. I start with the vehicle that will be making trip, then camping supplies, and etc.... I like it writen down or entered on a word docuement for printing off each trip. Every detail down to matches for lighting a stove. Once each item is loaded for the trip and visually seen, I cross it off my list. Some might think thats extreme, but imagine making a trip to Lake Fork (flying in) and forget to pack your reels for the trip. Matt Quote
Tpayneful Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I put a post it note on the steering wheel of my truck to remind me to unplug the boat. It really sucks when you pull up to the boat ramp and a 50 foot extension cord is still hooked to your boat! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 13, 2007 Super User Posted March 13, 2007 I put a post it note on the steering wheel of my truck to remind me to unplug the boat. It really sucks when you pull up to the boat ramp and a 50 foot extension cord is still hooked to your boat! A few years ago on Rayburn, our camping buddies thought they had the jump on us and took off from camp to be in line at the ramp early. We tried to flash them down with our lights, they wouldn't stop. Once at the ramp, we told them they forgot to unplug the charger. They thought we just wanted to pass them. We did stop for the extension cord, but the charger was "lets say" busted up after it flew off the back of the boat at 55 mph. Tpayneful, thanks for sharing that, I think we all have had brain lapses once in awhile. Matt. Quote
