Will the winning stringer consist of spots or Largemouths?     Will the winning angler target both?

You could win or lose the classic just on your game plan alone!!!  Spots or LM!

Guys like Wirth and Marten would be strong contenders for spots and persuing offshore structure for spots.

What is the strength of your angler and why did you select him to win?

I still like Tak, he excels on lakes with cooler water, great lipless bait and shallow water cranker, he will target the Largemouth bite for bigger bass.    I also like Kelly Jordan, another guy who excels in shallow water LM fishing.

Care to break it down for the rest of us?

When is the Classic?  I haven't been paying attention to the dates.  I'm guessing that someone like Aaron Martens or KVD could be holding the trophy.

I say it all depends on the weather leading up to and during the tournament. I feel anyone that ties their strategy to one or the other too far beforehand are going to be doing nothing more than tying their own hands. If the weather is stable, one species or the other can take it from start to finish. If the weather is changing and then stabilizes, I'd say that a mix will more than likely what will be needed. Anyhow, my thinking is that there won't be a good guess until right before the tournament.

I would guess that most of the anglers will have areas for both spots and largemouth.  If it's a slow largemouth bite they will get there limit of respectable spots.  Then go looking  for there largemouth kicker fish.

Some pretty good theories and possible game plans.    Since this is the Super Bowl of BASS, and points aren't in the mix, do you swing for the fences with LM's?   or try for the more aggressive spot to get a limit?

I think swinging for the fences is the only way to go, but making the cut for the final day is also key.

If your not stepping up and taking a good stroke, your not playing in this game. This one isn't about points, it's about bringing home the championship. Its time to lay it all on the line because second place is the first looser. The "safe" fishermen will win a few of these on a tough changing bite, but it's the Brauers that are looking for the long ballx and the Cluns and Van Dams that are relying on their speed steeling bases that excel in these. Don't get me wrong, you'll have to manage your fish still to make them last 3 days, but you still better be looking for some long balls or just plain making things happen.

Mobass,

I like your attitude and thought process of the old wylie vets that will be swinging for the fences.

Will it be a new winner or repeat winner?

You know, I just looked through the top 31 from the Elite series for this year and honestly, there probably isn't more than about 6 - 10 that I would choose as not being able to win it. It's going to be a tough one this year for sure.

Given the dates of the Classic I'm going with Greg Hackney; I've seen what he's capable of on Rayburn during pre-spawn.

I'm hoping Gary Klein can finally win one.If I we to predict a winner I'd have to go with a pretty safe bet, KVD.Don't get me wrong. There are dozens who could win it.Did anybody really think Luke Clausen, as good as he is, was going to win it last year?I don't remember anyone picking him.

I was looking at the advantage that some of the federation anglers might have given the fact that they just fished on Neely.       Bassmaster has dubbed Home town boy Lane as the favorite.    Note, that no one in history has won the classic on his home waters.
