Jolicious Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 My first one! I appreciate all the advice I got form everyone a month ago when I first asked about what to take, how to act, what questions to ask, etc... Now that I am four days away from leaving, I'm gettign pumped! Any last minute advice? Anyone been fishing on Lake of the Ozarks lately and want to share a tip with a good hearted rookie ;D? The bait monkey is buggin gthe heck out of me, but until I get some good tips on lures for up there, I am keeping him at bay! Thanks guys! Joe Quote
Mike D Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Hey Joe, I' m fishing the CPA this weekend also. I went to a Dion Hibdon seminar last week and got some great advice for this weekend. He had alot to say since he fished there the last two weekends. Do you have an email? two much info to put on here. This is my first 2-day tournament and was wondering if we fish with the same person both days or different one's? We will have to get in touch at the tournament. I'll give you my cell number on the email. Quote
Jolicious Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 ATTN: Moderators!! If I'm not supposed to put an email address on here, please accept my apologies But, if it's ok, I would like to let Mike D in on my email address... jbr3673@yahoo.com is my email. Also, from what I understand, we will fish with a different pro each day. Quote
haysokla1 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I fished the ozarks in sept. and did pretty well, here are the lessons I learned. Get away from where all the big boats travel! It will kill your fishing. ( you probably won't have to worry about that this time of year tho) The colors I found to work best was a green pumpkin with red flake, a blue jig with a light puple trailer, and better have some DD22's with you. Light colors cuz the water is clear. The locals that won our 2 day tournament won with just under 40lbs. 6 fish limit. big bass was around 7lbs. Good luck and hope this helps. Quote
Jolicious Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 Well, which do you guys want first - The good news or the really good news ;D Just plain ol' good news: I survived my first pro-am, and am going to be in the second leg of the series that's on my home lake (Beaver Lake in Arkansas) in February. - I put up the dreaded "Double Zero" for Satruday AND Sunday, but I did learn some new ways to fish, and really benefitted from my the two pro's that I drew! Now, on to the really exciting good news!!! A newbie member of ours, "Mike D" was in the tournament as well, and was top 5 when I left this afternoon! Mike: How'd you end up, brother??? Quote
Mike D Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Got 7th! $465 and a trophy! They ended up paying out 15 places. Guido Hibdon won 1st on the pro side and Kenyon Hill got second. The guy on the am side also won all of the Cabela's bonus money so he ended up taking home $3500 I'm going to do some research and then I 'm coming to you for advice for Beaver Lake! Quote
Jolicious Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 Way to go big boy! I'm proud to know ya! the best bait for Beaver Lake in February is a charteuse colored HAND GRENADE ;D Quote
