Super User cart7t Posted August 4, 2009 Super User Posted August 4, 2009 C'mon guys we are still nine months away. Sharkbite, not to worry. If you don't have the coin to reserve the cabin yourself, just keep broadcasting - like once a week. Eventually, without a doubt, you will find a roomie. The problem with reserving a room by credit card at this early date is that you are charged immediately for the reservation, i.e. about $120. Admittedly, your room mates pay you back at the end of the trip, but you've got to suck up the financial outlay for some nine months. For some of us that's not a problem. For others of us, that can cause a real financial squeeze. That's when you want to start shopping for roomies, and requesting a deposit to cover your deposit. Yea thank you very much I have faith that I'll get in. I am oked to go by my women so thats a plus lol. I will worry about it in the new year. So put me down on the list then ok. thanx There's plenty of ways to save money and make the trip affordable. Mike is demonstrating a great example by rooming with RW. With all those older guys in one room, I'm sure they'll get a group discount rate on geriatric nurse services. :running: Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted August 4, 2009 Super User Posted August 4, 2009 Cart7t, yes we get a discount on the nurse care, but the downside is that our walkers will constantly be getting tangled with each other.  It will be  a miracle if no one falls and breaks a hip.  :-/ Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 You're right Ken. I had the first hip replaced after my fall during the Lake Fork road trip and the second one replaced after my fall on the Guntersville trip. The BR road trips can be brutal on us seniors. Quote
Sharkbite Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I don't know much CPR or First Aid can I still go lol ;D Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 I don't know much CPR or First Aid can I still go lol ;D Absolutely. Â If you're around the older fella's just be congenial despite the odors. Â Quote
SammyLee Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I'd love to be there the whole week but I doubt I can afford that. Â What two days would be the best to fish and meet up with everyone? Â Thursday and Friday at the end? I have a friend with a Basscat boat who is not (yet) part of Bassresource, and I'd like for him to come along (with his boat and expertise) Â That wouldn't be a problem would it? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 Scheduling the "time" is the only issue. Otherwise, the cost of the entire week is very low. If you are just fishing two days, Wednesday and Thursday are best, our banquet is Wednesday night. 8-) Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 Friday usually finds many guys on their way back home early. Â Some of us that live closer will stay and fish but it's the minority. I'd suggest staying Mon-Thurs. Â You've got evening meals already set up for Mon-Wed. Â You're only concerns are Breakfast and lunch those days which can be done cheap and your dinner on Thursday night. Â Bunk up in a cabin with a couple others and you're talking a very cheap 4-5 day fishing trip. Â Quote

Although by the looks of it you guys might need a few more grills and junior chefs to help out if you plan on repeating next year. I'm in if you need the help! Of course, I will have to sample the stuff before it's served to make sure everything's O.K. Quote
SammyLee Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks guys, that's very helpful. Â I had planned to tent camp (12 bucks a day) over in the Bruton Branch campgound as it is actually on the water. Â (That's where that big LMB in the picture came from!) Â I guess if I can share a room the cost wouldn't be that much more. Â If anyone is looking for someone to share a room, (or boat costs) just PM me. Â I am quiet, neat, do not snore and mind my own business. Â I do smoke a cigar from time to time but outside. Time is not really an issue as I have tons of vacation time on the books and if I request it soon enough, I'll get it approved. Â After last weekend's two PB LMB and SMB at Pickwick, I will be going back there several times prior our get together, which I am much looking forward to. Quote

As you know, it's free! The $50 is for Wednesday's banquet and some other expenses. The goodie bag and other sponsor gifts more than cover the sign-up fee. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to participate in a charity raffle with big prizes. Lodging is YOUR responsibility and you can stay anywhere. We have reserved rooms and cabins for the gang, but everyone makes their own reservations. Hope to see you there! 8-) Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted August 12, 2009 Super User Posted August 12, 2009 I want to reiterate that the $50 registration fee covers dinner at the banquet on Wednesday ONLY. Â No other meals are included. Â The hotel serves a buffet meal in the evenings. Â We are hoping that, on Monday and Tuesday, the attendees will take advantage of the buffet (at your cost) and then dine together in a private dining room adjoining the restaurant. Â Unconfirmed rumors are that dancing girls will be present. Â Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 12, 2009 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 12, 2009 Great question Kelley. Â Without providing a full audit, it covers the costs of maps and t-shirts for everyone, name badges, and other minor misc. things. Â This year, the registration covered everything within 20 cents or so of the actual costs. Â Throw in the fact I got extra maps and t-shirts for "just in case" that didn't happen, and I ended up in the hole. Â :-/ Bottom line: nobody is making any money off the registration fee, if that's the concern. Quote
