Super User Tin Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 Did anyone realize that you are fishing a clear water smallmouth body of water during the spawn/post-spawn period 3 days after the Bassmaster Elite Series pounds the heck out of it for about 2 weeks? I'm just saying there is going to be a lot of empty beds... ;D I want in. Just have to check my school schedule, think exams finish the 5th. Smallies are my specialty. Â 8-) Quote
LloydTheFisher Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I have a couple of questions. 1. I don't want to pay and fish the bank all day, what about boat rental or will someone let me ride in their boat? 2. What if I get my own accomadations, like stay with family, campout or a cheaper motel room. Â I don't ahve $85.00 a day? 3. Would someone want to team up and share the costs getting there and back and staying there if we stay on the lake at $85.00 per night that would be $42.50 each per night. Quote

No one has ever been left behind and that will not happen this year, either. 2. There is no requirement to stay with the group. The $50 sign up fee is for a group dinner and some other expenses. 3. You will need to work out shared travel and lodging, but nearly everyone shares a room or cabin and I know we have several   members coming from the St. Louis area. Perhaps someone will   respond directly. Otherwise, keep asking around. 8-) Quote

Super User senile1 Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 Amazing. Â I can't believe I didn't notice this was the 2010 road trip thread until today. Â Because of the number of posts I assumed this was an old road trip thread. Â Work has kept me away the last couple of years, but I will be there. Â I don't know if I'll bring my boat but no way am I missing out this time around. Â I'm going to put in for the vacation time now. Â Once I make reservations I'll post up if anyone needs to share a cabin. Quote

Maybe Big-O can point out where the Strike King guys were getting their fish. Where is the start point? Hope they don't take 'em all. ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 17, 2009 Super User Posted July 17, 2009 I'll bet they wish they were fishing behind us! Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Quote

LloydTheFisher Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 OK, I plan to be there. Â It is not scheduled until 05/02/10, so I will have from now until then to get a roommate and carpool for the event. I will pay my money either in march for and let me know the dinner time. Â If I have to pay my own way full, driving and motel fees, I can only stay two or three days. Â If I can get a carpool and roommate, I can stay the whole 5 nights and 6 days. I will help out on fuel and drive if necessary on the way up and back. Â Will there be a fuel charge for riding in a boat, if so we need to work that out as well. Â I just need to know how much cash I need altogether. I can get dropped off anywhere near St. Louis, Mo for the carpool or you can pick me up at the door, either way is fine. Â If yuo are further North of St. Louis, Mo you can pick me up at th arch if you want, I just want a carpool or either I will have to rent a car, my Lumina may not take that trip. My number is (314)546-9822. if you want to talk about it. Â We can meet before then, I can get just about anywhere from Chicago, Indiana, Kansas City or Memphis. Thanks for the invite and like I said I plan to be there with the strenght that God gives me. Â I will tell you letting us know this early is really a good idea. Â You have time to save money and make arrangements. Â Plus get to know other members. Quote
Simp Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 2010 Elites revised shows them on Pickwick as well from 4/29- 5/2. Should be interesting. I just saw that myself and it made me wonder if Glenn didn't know something about that. Maybe we're going to have allot of surprise guests this time!!! On the other hand that's a ton of fishing pressure! > Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 18, 2009 Super User Posted July 18, 2009 Looks like they're taking out of Florence Alabama on the other end of the lake. Â Yes, we'll be fishing for sloppy seconds that's for sure. Â Quote
Koop Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I plan on attending, anyone have room for 1 more? Â I will either be driving solo from SE Wisconsin or will meet up with someone along the way for a car pool. Quote
CJ Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 This isn't a pond that will be hammered by 200 angler's for 3 days. It's a big lake. You'll be surprised at how little effect those guys will have on the fish. Good structure will replenish in just a couple of days. Have more faith in yourself as an angler. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 18, 2009 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 18, 2009 It's only 50 boats spread across the whole lake. Â They're not going to decimate the fishery. Â I mean, they're good... but not THAT good! Â ;D Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 over 1200 miles for me and a 20 hour ride :-[ Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 19, 2009 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 19, 2009 Bottom line - stop worrying about it. Every single popular location has tournaments on it. Kentucky lake was no exception, as a major tournament was held just before and after our event. Same with the year before. We announce this event WELL in advance to give YOU an opportunity to save up and make travel arrangements - possibly with others to save expenses. That's as much as we can do. Hope to see you there! Super User cart7t Posted July 19, 2009 Super User Posted July 19, 2009 Glenn, I know you guys have a lot of footwork to do in getting these road trips organized and I want to thank you for that. After the great success of last year I'm sure this year will be even better. Senile has already committed so this will be his first, I'm betting it won't be his last either. Hopefully more will take the plunge. It's not all about the fishing though I'm betting we're going to see a few hawgs of both species caught. I'm there and will probably go down early just to chase the pro's around for a day. Shiloh military park is just up the road, I've been wanting to visit that for awhile now so I will probably take some time out on Saturday or Sunday to go experience the park. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 20, 2009 Super User Posted July 20, 2009 Plan to spend the better party of a day. Take your time at every stop. But when you get to the pond...well, just relax and let your mind wander. The park is VERY special. 8-) Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 20, 2009 Super User Posted July 20, 2009 Thanks for the tips Kent. Â 8-) Quote

I've noticed quite a few of the bigger bags come on the last day of the Elite tourneys. They're usually hitting the same spots hard for 3 or 4 days. Â Quote
Troutfisher Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I may actually be able to make this one, even though I'm a college student on a budget. Â This isn't too far away from West Virginia, I could easily drive it. Â 8-) Quote
