Super User cart7t Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 Rumor has it, that with all the rain, KY and Barkley have merged into one lake and will now be considered the 6th Great Lake.  Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 3, 2010 Super User Posted May 3, 2010 Tornadoes and flooding rains? Well, at least it's not snow! That's what I told Blaine last night when we talked. Are you guys still going to KY instead? They are there now. I couldn't make it, already made my road trip for the year. Quote
Simp Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 OK well I'm taking off right now so if anybody sees RW or Mike Let them know we will be showing up around 9-10pm. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 What, no updates? I'm interested to read what's going on there as well as the group that went to Kentucky... Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 5, 2010 Super User Posted May 5, 2010 Was kinda wondering the same thing? Thought someone would have given us a bang on the pipes by now. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted May 5, 2010 Super User Posted May 5, 2010 I spoke to Speedbead yesterday. He said they caught a few earlier in a rainstorm, but KY lake looks like an "ocean of chocolate milk". Sounds like the WV contingent is at least fishing. I have been trying to get Long mike on the phone at Pickwick and can't get through. My trip got canceled on the way out of town by an email from Rutgers telling me that all my daughter's financial aid had been recinded. I am now doing battle with the powers that be so my kid can go to school in the fall. I will try to find out how everyone is doing and report. Ronnie Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 5, 2010 Super User Posted May 5, 2010 Well that stinks Ronnie, I know you were looking forward to going being that you weren't able to make it last year. Hope your able to work things out with your daughter's tuition. Quote
IDbasser Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I have been waiting for some updates and pictures. I hope to go one of these years. Quote
bowfish12 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I received a text from bassinsoldier monday morning. He had already caught his personal best smallmouth. Quote
FishinTN Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Coast Guard has closed Ky lake(tn River) from pickwick to paducah to all rec. boating. Quote
TN basstracker Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Pickwick itself is ok, but from the Pickwick Dam north up to Paducah, KY is closed to recreational boating. That's a 206 mile stretch, due to high waters and excessive river drift. Saw that on the news this morning. Quote
steezy Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Been at pickwick since Sat afternoon, awful rain all day Sat & Sun. Fished all day in the pouring rain with Rhino and still managed to catch a few fish. Fished on Long Mikes and WMD's boats Mon,Tue,Wed. Caught 2 Sat, 5 Mon, 15 Tue, 16 Wed but only fished 1/2 day Wed. The bite was best with ragetail craws. My biggest was probably 2 1/2 lb, but there were a couple of big smallmouth caught. Big O and the bass soldiers caught over 100 on multiple days. All the guys were great and anyone that didn't attend really missed out on a fun time. -Steezy Quote
TN basstracker Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Is any of the crew still up there? I'm planning on driving over from Memphis and fishing tomorrow. Quote
lazeebum Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Gonna be Thursday night before I get to Savanah. I need my job. Quote
Big-O Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 To say I had a great time at the BR Roadtrip would be a huge understatement at best. After 3 days of fishing with Joe (Bassinsoldier) and Brian (Bassinsargeant), we averaged well over 100 fish per day with our best day being 131 total including over 45 Bronzebacks Can't call'em Smallies 'cause some of'em "weren't small at all". I have to admit it, I was wrong when I anticipated far less results prior to the Roadtrip but my hat's off to Kent (Roadwarrior) and Long Mike for making such a terrific call on this one..."PICKWICK RULES" Fo Sho. Paul got to come and fish with us on Tuesday and we had more fun than ever. Just think....4 great friends in a boat, on an awesome lake, slammin' the fish, turnin' up a cold one now and then and sharing stories about GOOD TIMES. I'll remember this trip for years to come, one of the best ever. Joe, Brian and I all set new PB's on Smallmouth, and we caught some really nice Large mouth and Spots as well. I think it might take a world record for Paul to set a new PB so he just smiled at us. All of our other friends were having a terrific time as well and they were catching plenty of quality fish too. Tom (Fishing Rhino) came trolling up to us out on the river and asked if we could take some photo's for'em....then he lifted a big LM, a big Spot and a huge Smallmouth out of his live well and said all three came from the same area. My boat was having great success with the Falcon color Rage Craw until we ran out of'em, then we went to Watermwlon/red or Grn Pumpkin. When the sun got bright, we would tip them with Chartreuse JJ's . I'm sure there will be several other stories coming up soon 'cause most of the group is still out there fishing.....I came back a few days early to catch up on things but left the boys with plenty of stuff to snag a few more fish with Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 Thanks for the post Steve, we heard you were slaying 'em down there. Congrats on the PB's, them are some bad lookin' slabs there! 8-) Quote
Big-O Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 The Soldiers and I fished Sunday in that Storm and WOW what a day....131 fish with over 45 Smallmouth Was raining so hard for so long that my rig stayed full of water for hours even with both bilge pumps going. Several fish that came unbuttoned in the boat and were swimming around in the floor. In fact, it took Joe (Bassinsoldier) several minutes to run one of'em out from underneath the driver console ;D He got frustrated for a while there and said he was gonna flip a craw down there to see if he could catch'em again The next two days were very similar to the first, alot of slammin' and slingin' and a bunch of hoopin' and hollarin' to go with it What a Lake, I posted other info and photo's on the Fishing Trip thread and wished all of you could've been there....alot of the group are still there whackin'em. (Fishing Rhino) Tom caught a huge Smallmouth, heard Uncle Leo and Steezy caught a monster one too and BassinSoldier, BassinSargeant and myself all set new PB's on'em.....Don't get no better than that Thanks Kent (Roadwarrior) and Long Mike for setting up a great Roadtrip... WOOOO HOOOOOOO Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Triton21 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 GREAT Steve. Glad all are doing well with the fishing. Wish I could have been there but Wife was and still not well enough for me to get out of sight. Haven't been fishing in over a month but that is secondary to taking care of the Love of my Life. SammyLee Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Me and a buddy, he has a Basscat boat, are leaving Memphis in a few minutes. We'll fish this afternoon and tomorrow. He is not part of the group so we will just fish and look around to see if we see anyone. What the heck, give me a call if anyone is around . 9-0-1---2-3-7---2-6-4-8 Quote
