Dinky Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I am sorry the official roadtrip had to be cancelled, but I will be there for the unofficial one!! I have a room at the lodge from 5/1 thru 5/7-if anyone needs a place to stay--two queen beds. I also have room for one more in my boat if anyone is interested. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 22, 2010 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 22, 2010 Again, it has not been cancelled. Just scaled back. Quote
lazeebum Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 It may be posted elswhere. When is the deadline to register for the roadtrip? Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 23, 2010 Super User Posted March 23, 2010 It may be posted elswhere. When is the deadline to register for the roadtrip? Lazybum, there is no longer a deadline. If you want to show up then please do so. There is no longer an entry fee, nor is there an organized get-together, yet. However, so many of you guys are now coming out of the woodwork, so to speak, that we feel that we need to establish a "home base" for everyone. I'll be working on it. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 23, 2010 Super User Posted March 23, 2010 It may be posted elswhere. When is the deadline to register for the roadtrip? There is no longer a need to register. Everything is "on your own." Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 25, 2010 Super User Posted March 25, 2010 It appears that I will have a free bed in the room I have reserved. Also, for anyone who may be interested. I will be driving to Pickwick, leaving on Friday or Saturday with boat in tow, and perhaps canoe on roof as well. If anyone is still considering it, and willing to share the gas and room expenses for the ride down, my route will be I-95 to the NJ Turnpike, getting onto I-78 at Newark, to I-81 south to I-40 west and from there on to Pickwick Landing. Room for more if there are any last minute takers. Quote

Simp Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Long Mike I got a new boat I'll be bringing it's pictured here. It should be able to fish three fairly easy. My dad is coming but the whole point to us is to meet new people and fish with them. So there will be days I'm sure where he or I would love to fish with somebody else also. No matter what though we will always have at lease one spot open for a fellow angler! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 4, 2010 Super User Posted April 4, 2010 Thanks Kyle. I've updated the list based on input from you and Fishing Rhino. For those of you who have not sent me a Registration Form, I would appreciate it if you would PM me with the following information. Full name and address. Emergency contact name and phone number. Cell phone number at the lake. (Not required, but nice to have.) I will distribute a list of attending members, their screen names, their real names and their cell phone numbers upon arrival at Pickwick. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 4, 2010 Super User Posted April 4, 2010 Just a quick note about the canoe. It is easily large enough and stable enough for two. It has a beam of 42 inches. I have stood and cast from it just to satisfy my curiosity. It is powered by a Minnkota Traxxis, 55 pound thrust. I also have a Eagle Cuda fishfinder which though an econo sounder is capable of "seeing" transition bottom be it depth changes or vegetation. I will put 8 fresh AA batteries and bring a spare set. Unless the unit is not turned off, they should not need changing. Will have two batteries and a charger for the trolling motor, so it is sufficient for a day's fishing. Unless you're pulling water skiers. It is what I have fished from during the past year plus, and every picture of me that has been posted, except for one with stripers and blue fish have been caught from that canoe or my smaller one. It is more than capable of handling two fishermen, their gear, a cooler etc. It will also have an anchor, and two paddles, just in case. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted April 6, 2010 Super User Posted April 6, 2010 Lipless crankbaits and suspending jerkbaits rule right now. That pattern will probably still be in play the first week of May. The bonus will be topwater action! p.s. I just got off the phone with a friend that works with Lance's dad. Super User roadwarrior Posted April 6, 2010 Super User Posted April 6, 2010 UPDATE Ok guys, Attached is a few pictures from my blackberry of the largemouth I caught last Thursday at Pickwick. Was all alone so I wish I had a better camera and better pictures, but it was mighty cool to me. Fish was 26.5 inches long and had a girth of 22.5 inches. I had a board to measure her with, but took fishing line to get girth and measured later. Caught her on a gravel bar in about 7 ft of water at 1:00 last THursday on a Strike King Red Eye Shad 1/2 ounce with Vicious 12 pd test flourocarbon and a Bass Pro SHops Johnny Morris Elite Reel and a Bass Pro Shops 7'0 ft medium heavy cranking stick. Was slowly pumping it down the gravel war when it just loaded up on the fall. First fish i had caught of day, and really she did not fight that much. Dead pull, strong but i figured i just had a fish foul hooked or in top of head. She bulldogged under the boat and when she came out and floated up, she had it right in top lip and just gave up. I was kinda in shock i guess and ran water for livewell and called dad (he was at work of course) to get him to pull up records which in Alabama for public water was 14.9 or so. I took the x-tool and weighed her and it bounced between 13.1 and 13.3. Not wanting to hurt her, i put her back in livewell as i tried to figure out what to do. Nobody was anywhere around and i took her out for as many pictures as i could with a cell phone (no other good camera). I then took her measurements to verify weights as the only scale i had was x-tool in the boat. After 2-3 minutes of her in the livewell, I crunk up and idled back to the exact area i caught her and let her swim away, in which she TORE out of my hand. I have never caught anything close to this (10 pds biggest), nor will i, i am sure on area waters, but it was a very humbling experience to finally see one this big in our lake we love so much. We have one of the most special resources in the world close to our home and I just hope we can keep seeing these things happen. Also, Jimmy Mason caught a 8'2 smallmouth yesterday up there and is putting pictures on his website on a guide trip, so it is getting awesome. Thanks for the listen. Lance Walker MEMPHIS BPS Quote
