Evan Sharp Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 i just bought rage tails and i was wondering if someone could tell me how to hook them and a picture would be nice aswel. thanks, Evan Quote
rondef Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Go to www.ragetail.com and you can see instructions on how to rig them and videos showing the action of the baits. to the forum. Quote
Big-O Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Evan, There is also a video on the website that shows rigging it as well but my advice is to use the 4/0 EWG (extra wide gap) Super Line hook. That is the hook that the bait was basically designed around although some advise much larger hooks. There are also other ways to rig the Rage shad and you will find those ideas on the website as well. Hope you enjoy the baits and Welcome to our Bass Resource Family....whether we're fishin' or talkin' about fishin', we're a happy group Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Evan Sharp Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 i just went to dicks and gander and they didnt have the size 4-6 ewg hooks. > Quote
Big-O Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Wow that's a first, even Walmart has those. They are one of the most popular soft plastic hooks on the market.... Big O Quote
fishbear Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Wow that's a first, even Walmart has those. They are one of the most popular soft plastic hooks on the market....Big O My Wally World has been out for over 3 months on the larger EWG hooks...... > > > Quote
rondef Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 That is because everyone is buying them to use with the rage tail baits. The two local wally world stores in my area no longer have any of the Gamakatsu 4/0 5/0 or 6/0 EWG hooks. Quote
MattStrykul Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 That is because everyone is buying them to use with the rage tail baits. The two local wally world stores in my area no longer have any of the Gamakatsu 4/0 5/0 or 6/0 EWG hooks. That's cause Pigsticker and I got them all ;D VMC's are very good as well. Quote
shorefisher Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 i just went to dicks and gander and they didnt have the size 4-6 ewg hooks. > Same here, it's like someone out there is really stocking up. Neither one can seem to keep the hooks in stock. Quote
skillet Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 ;)Glad I've got enough for quite a while!!! ES WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I stocked up on various Mustad hooks and so far, I don't have any complaints at all. For years, all I used were Gamakatsu and Owner, but decided to try Mustad out again. They are holding up to tough fishing pretty well so far. You might want to try either an online store like www.***.com or bass pro or cabelas to find hooks if they are out in your area. If you're not using 4/0-6/0 EWG hooks with your soft plastics, then you could be missing out. I don't use offset hooks anymore at all with the exception of Big-O's favorite Eagle Claw 6/0 monster hook for big worms. Everything else gets EWG. Quote
Pigsticker Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Haha yeah I have alot of 4/0 ewg and up. I love super line hooks Dicks sell 3/0 4/0 superline hooks but they are in family packs and not worth all the extra light wire hooks VMCs are nice, their 4/0 ewg are as big as 5/0 hooks My favorite hooks are Gamakatsu ewg Monster hooks if dicks ever stocked those they would be out of them in 5 minutes ;D Quote
Evan Sharp Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 ok so ill go check wal-mart right now. > Quote
Big-O Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Evan pls note that the Rage Shad is specifically designed around a 4/0 to 5/0 EWG super line hook with 4/0 being my preference. The Rage Toad is designed around a 5/0 to 6/0 EWG super line hook with 6/0 being my preference. These hooks used correctly on each design will provide best action and hook up opportunities on your strikes. They will also help any and all toad or frog designs to avoid swimming on their back as the hook weight itself gives the proper keel effect for correct action BTW, Let'em load up it before hook set and braid isn't a must but helps substantially for driving the hook home.... Evan Sharp Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 omg go figure i get a size to small just thinking it will work ok for now i got 10+ hits not one fish now i got size 4/0 and i got not one hit > guess its decided that i need to stick to sinkos Quote
ptomacbass Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 i prefer ragetails times 10+ over any senko type bait. Quote
