BassCats Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 How, Where, and When do you fish this lure. received two as a gift and never used them before. Quote
NEBassMan Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 i like to throw them as soon as the morning topwater bite slows. I love throwing them around timber and along the edge of grass/pads. Fish slam them! Jason Quote
BassinWill301 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I like to fish them in the morning or evening, over submerged grass. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I fish this over submerged grass also, but have had great success banging them off stumps. These are great little baits and cast a mile. Also great in rivers. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 love throwing them in grass submerged about 1ft under the water. also the spring time is awesome when the bass are on the flats. i throw near any stumps, seawalls, docks and grass. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 20, 2008 Super User Posted August 20, 2008 Check the lure before each cast, the hooks tend to tangle. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 20, 2008 Super User Posted August 20, 2008 wherever the water is too shallow to fish any other crankbait Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 20, 2008 Super User Posted August 20, 2008 I love the 3/8 ounce size! Quote
Masshole Mike Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 The latest BassMaster magazine has an article that focuses on shallow running, square-billed cranks like the Manns Baby -1. Pretty good article, too. I've got a few -1's that I've yet to tie on, but after reading the article I think I'm gonna have to give em a go. Basically the article says that banging them off as much structure as possible is a great way to work them. Rip them through downed timber bangin em off branches and trunks, burn them over and through submerged grass, etc. Throw em anywhere you'd throw a spinnerbait. Quote
MSPbass Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Are you guys throwing the Baby -1 on baitcasters or are they small and worked best on spinning gear? Quote
Super User CWB Posted August 20, 2008 Super User Posted August 20, 2008 I fish the Baby 1- on baitcasting gear, 10-12# line. Run it parallel to shallow docks and fish it toward the bank between docks and you might pick off one or 2 moving from dock to dock looking for eats! Over shallow grass, these are dynamite. Quote
