BUCKEYEone Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I just received my first mail-order from Bass Pro Shops, and out of the 8 items I ordered only 4 were shipped (the others listed as out of stock), and none of these were "hot" new items. They were all listed as in stock when I ordered them. Is this the norm from BPS? Is *** better? Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted August 14, 2008 Super User Posted August 14, 2008 I have had great luck with BPS. I just wish that all the items in the catalog were in the store. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 On a rare occasion I have experienced that but within days the items arrvied. I beleive when they do not have the warehouse they ship then get the items from a store. Quote

They are "in stock" as long as no picker has passed them through the scanner when they fill an order, once the order is filled and passed through the scanner the items are substracted from the inventory, so there 's a high probability that your order was picked after somebody elses and there you have it, you are backordered on that item. That makes sense to me. I'm now wishing I would not have told them not to send the items later if they are not in stock! Quote
NewScreenNameAdvised Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I've never had a problem with ***. My friend did though on a hot swimbait. Took 6 months to finally get it. Quote
21farms Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 i've been ordering from BPS since the early 80s but i've had a variety of issues with them this year. in 4 of my orders, at least one item that was not shown as "out of stock" when i placed the order but that was indeed unavailable. after the 3rd time it happened, i called to complain and was told that some items are not inventoried in real time : okay, i understand that but i continued to monitor their website afterward and those items continued to be shown as "in stock" for days and weeks later. that's just plain bad. almost as bad, i received one order that was half mispacked...got a bunch of stuff i didn't order and was missing a bunch of stuff i did order. and twice, i placed orders at both BPS and cabelas within minutes of each other and the cabelas order will arrive in about 3-4 days but it always takes 10+ to get my BPS order. but, in answer to your question, TW is great. Super User CWB Posted August 14, 2008 Super User Posted August 14, 2008 I'd be lost without BPS. When I place an order, I usually do it over the phone and know instantly if there is stock. I have had the same problems with out of stock with web orders. I've been using Tackle Warehouse more and more. Seems like they have the "Hot" items sooner than BPS. Quote
MNGeorge Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I've been a long time fan of BPS, but this year there have been a number of mistakes with orders. They always make good on them, but it delays receipt of the stuff you want. ***'s policy of free shipping on orders over $50 has had me ordering more and more from them and their orders have all been error free. basser89 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 It's been some time since I've had to order from BPS (I'm a little spoiled having two stores within 1 1/2 hours of where I live). It's been so long since I've ordered anything from them, I don't even get the catalogs. :'( Quote
cigarleaf Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I've also giving up on ordering from BPS website. I've found out that if you place your order over the phone that they can tell you right away if the item is out of stock. Plus, they can tell you how they are going to ship your order and they can give you an option for a couple of dollars more for faster shipping service(they don't offer that cheaper service online). Online you won't know if they will use USPS parcel post, which can take up to 2 - 3 full weeks to get your order. > Quote
njbasser Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I usually only use TW or Cabelas, BPS is a last resort Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I live about 15 miles from Atlanta BPS so the only time I order from BPS online is when my total order is less than $30. Any less than that and it's cheaper to pay shipping than pay for the gas in my Suburban. My orders have all been correct...so far. Quote
