tritonex17 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Just wondering what the best grub for the buck is? size color make? thanks guys! Quote
Mobydick Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I like Zooms Fat Alberts. They are awesome for smallies and i've caught some largemouth on them. I prefer green pumkin, cotton candy, and smoke pepper colors. I rig 'em texas style on a 1/0 hook with 1/16 ounce weight, or split shot them, or use 'em as spinnerbait trailers. Walmart Carries them, and I think they are only 2 or 3 bucks. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 7, 2008 Super User Posted August 7, 2008 5 1/2" GYCB Single Tail Grub. Clear with silver flakes or Smoke. The presentation is a live baitfish. I fish them on a 1/8 oz Gamakatsu jig head. 8-) Quote
JT Bagwell Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I love the Pro Double Tail Grub from Yamamoto. It is the perfect size for use as a jig trailer. JT Bagwell Quote

Infidel. Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 5" Kalin's Lunker grubs all the way. I like the Yamamoto grubs as well but having fish rip the tails off gets old. Quote
Aaron Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I lkw the Zoom Fat alberts but I have some Yamamots to try out. Quote
snapper G Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I like Berkly Wooly Hawgtail, in green pumpkin color, it works well if you fish it like a frog, wight less or Carolina rigged! Quote
Shadcranker Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 5" Kalin's Lunker grubs Ditto- Kalins are da bomb. I like the Watermelon flake best. They have very thin tails with awesome action. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 4" Yum Muy grubs in ozark smoke, pearl/silver flake, and green pumpkin. Also, another vote for Kalin's 5 inchers too. I go really simple here, white or black, and use them for spinnerbait trailers. The Kalin's grubs, doctored-up with a little Berkley walleye scent, are killer on big 'eyes when coupled with a leadhead. Another option with the 5" Kalin's is to thread them onto a large airplane jig, and work them vertically through the ice for pike. Black and white get the nod here as well. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 I like Riverside. They're cheap, but they work. Quote

My fav is the pumpkin color. Smallies , LMB (and one northern pike have) have hit this rig with regularity. Quote

Kalins grubs are awesome. They are the BEST grub on the market IMO. Their thin tails are one of a kind and they also have a very soft body. Quote
mike bat Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 all grubs named are good ... but there is one grub that will almost always out fish the others .... and that grub is the chompers twin tailed grub .... and these suckers stink .... but the bass eat them up ... they out fish the gycb grub almost every time ....i will warn you tho ,, before you stuff your rods in the truck or rod lockers remove the grub from the hook /// that stink will linger for a long time ....
