Jim McC Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 What size hook do you guys recommend for the Zoom trick worm? I just bought some and was surprised how skinny they are. Thanks. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted August 11, 2008 Super User Posted August 11, 2008 For me it depends on the potential largest bass likely to be caught when rigging it Tx style. I use anywhere from 3/0 to 5/0 in the Gammy offset round bend. For weedless wacky rigging, I use a 3/0 Octopus hook Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted August 11, 2008 Super User Posted August 11, 2008 I use Gamakatsu 2/0 EWG's for T-Rigging. Falcon Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted August 11, 2008 Super User Posted August 11, 2008 I use Gammy EWG's, anywhere from 2/0-4/0 depending on what I'm trying to do. Smaller hook for more subtle finesse presentations, bigger hook to add a bit of weight so I can throw it weightless. Can't really go wrong with 3/0 Quote
gar-tracker Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Man thee are some serious hooks for a finesse bait, I use a 2/0 or 3/0 sprout regular worm hook. Texas style with a 1/32 ounce screw in weight. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted August 11, 2008 Super User Posted August 11, 2008 Mustad straight shank 1/0 or 2/0. there is no reason to fish a wide gap hook on a trick worm. A straight shank will allow a more direct pull through the worm than any wide gap hook. Larry Nixon and a lot of the other pros have made a great living fishing the straight shank hook. Quote
Aaron Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I usually go with a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG, that's about all I own. Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I usually rig them with the same 3/0 wide gap hooks that I use for just about everything. Quote
thatoneguy Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I wacky rig these with a gamakatsu finesse wide gap 1/0 or 2/0. works great. Quote
fishbear Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 For weedless fishing i use anywhere from a 2/0 - 4/0 Gammy EWG. For Wacky rigging I use a 1/0 circle hook. Quote
Bassyak Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I typically use Mustad UltraPoint Wide Gap hooks T-rigged with no weight. I "Tex-pose" the hook by bringing it all the way thru the worm and then slipping the point just under the skin and I've been really successful with it. Usually a 1/0 or 2/0, depending on how fast I want it to sink. Hooks bigger than 2/0 tend to affect the action as it sinks, in my opinion. Quote
GobbleDog Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 1/0 hooks work, but the problem I've seen is 1/0's in general have a tendency to bend some, especially on bigger bass, which can result in fish shaking lose. Therefore, I use quality 2/0's with trick worms. Quality meaning Owner hooks and such which are little thicker than the cheapest brand. Quote
