NewScreenNameAdvised Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I'd just recommend that you bury the tip of the hook into the senko if you plan on throwing it in and arround any cover (which I recommend).
daviscw Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I'd just recommend that you bury the tip of the hook into the senko if you plan on throwing it in and arround any cover (which I recommend). X2 Pull the worm up about 2-3 of those little ribs on the side and barely stick the hook point back in.
bigfruits Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 grab the senko right above where the hook goes in and stretch it towards the eye of the hook. bury the point of the hook inside the senko and let go. the point of the hook should be buried inside the senko and the senko should hang straight.
macmaster761 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 the hook point needs to go back into the side of the worm, this way, weeds don't get caught on the bend in the hook, they just glide past them. When i started using them i thought how the hell am i going to hook any bass when the point is burried in the plastic, but when you set the hook on the fish, the point it forced through the worm into it
LAO162 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 A quick google on Texpose found this article: http://www.nodakoutdoors.com/texas-fishing-rig.php Pictures 4 & 5 show how to bury the hook back into the bait. Hope it helps
avid Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 There is probably no wrong way to rig a senko. Having the hook exposed is no problem if the area is free of weeds. The key thing I always try to do is to have the senko rigged so that it is as close to perfectly straight as possible. Play with it a little, but when you hold the line just above the top of the hook eye, the bait should be pretty close to a straight line. that is how I do it for my best success.
maseyferguson05 Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 Oh alright, so more like this. I can't get it to really imbed but it just sits close to the worm now. Looks pretty weedless to me. I can't wait to try these out 8-)
Super User Marty Posted August 9, 2008 Super User Posted August 9, 2008 That looks pretty good and you can try it like that. If it doesn't grab weeds, fine. If it does, then skin-hook it. Don't push the point forward under the skin; instead, pull the plastic up toward the hook eye, then when you release it, release it so some plastic covers the hook point.
maseyferguson05 Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 d**n, i must have done something right. I think i will be using these alot more in the future!
maseyferguson05 Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Anyone have problems with them falling apart? I already went threw two worms in about one day and one came off 5 feet from the boat after i whipped it with my casting reel. The birdsnest was nothing pretty. I know someone has some tips for me. Thanks.
Super User fishinfiend Posted August 10, 2008 Super User Posted August 10, 2008 Nice fish! You have already found the major draw back of senkos, which is they tear up very easily.
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 10, 2008 Super User Posted August 10, 2008 Change the hook to a Skip Gap hook in 5/0. That will help with the sling offs. Use a less violent cast too, more of a lob than a hard whip.
Chad. Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Wow i have had no luck on senkos, guess I have to fish em more seeing as i have 130 of em... How did you procede to fish them.
maseyferguson05 Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 What are you doing with 130 of them ;D I just let it sit on the bottom, instead of just moving it alittle i would every now and then pull it quite aways up and let it sink back down. The bass in the picture hit it when it was falling.

Chad. Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Yeah, idon't get to fish much hence 19 bass of the year, i do know how to fish the senko and i only have 25 minutes on it so i can't doubt it yet.
CookieMonst3r Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 You will find that Senkos are less durable, then Brand "X". But they catch fish. Although I'm more of an *** *** fan myself. :

Certified Public Angler Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 They do fall apart easy, I go through bag after bag of them. After catching a fish if the tip of the worm was ripped by the line I will just cut about a half inch off and re-rig it, you can still catch fish with half a worm, I was desperate once. My favorite thing about the senko is that i can cast it double the distance of a regular worm. I've never fished the Yamamoto senkos...these ones are half the price and work great.
