MitchIsFishin Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Having spent some time learning to fish with the senko's, I picked up a pack of Ika's and one pack of single-tail 4" grubs and a pack of double-tail 4" grubs. I'm calling these grubs, but the body looks real similar to the Ika. Anyway, I knew if I could get an answer as to how to rig the grubs, it would be here, as I'm unsure. Also, would I rig the Ika same as a fat Ika? Any help appreciated. Mitch Quote
moby bass Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Are you talking about the double tail hula skirt grub? If so, I haven't used them alot but when I do, I rig on a 1/0 EWG hook, skirt up, same as the Ika. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Ya' know, I don't know. The single tail only says 4" Single Tail #40-20-286, and the double-tail says 4" double tail # 15-20-128. No skirts in either, just tails. Quote
wisturkeyhunter Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Both them grubs work good fished with a jig head and either worked straight in or bounced off structure. Could be used as a jig trailer or even texas rigged if weeds are a problem. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Okay, thanks. Sounds like I'll be getting some jig heads. Curious though, could these grubs BE fished like an Ika? If so, what hook to use, maybe a #1 offset shank gammy? Quote
Bass XL Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 You could also use the double tail as a jig trailer on a football head jig. Quote
avid Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I have caught a lot of bass with the hula grub. It is my "go to" jig trailer for very light jigs. I also use it with good results t-rigging with a screw in sinker. There have been days when this bait was an absolute killer. Quote
SimonSays Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I use the 4in double tail and single tail grubs on a 1/8oz jig head for small mouth. IMO there are better options for grubs out there, with the high salt content they'll usually rip in the first or second strike near the head and won't hold well on the jig head. Quote
Chad. Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 *** * or kalins lunker grubs is the way to go. Quote
CookieMonst3r Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Try them on a 1/8 or 1/16 oz. (if the current lets you) jighead, or as a jig trailer. I've also heard of them being fished T-rigged weightless. I'd try this on a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG hook. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 double tail hula grub on your typical flippin' jig with a good weed guard. It is a killer Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 Hey Thanks everybody, I appreciate the suggestions. I think, over time, I'll just try them all & see what works for me. Avid, glad to see you are back! Quote
