ptomacbass Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 i fish a deep clear lake and was wondering what color you guys think the crawdads would be. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 5, 2008 Super User Posted August 5, 2008 All the ones I have seen are different colors depending on the season. They vary in brown/red/green tones. But I use plumb and black craws most of the time. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Quote
basser89 Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 When I'm fishing a crawfish bite, I try to match the bottom as close as I can. Like Jig Man said, try different shades of browns/greens and red. Quote
S I G M A Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 browns/dark green/dark orange/red i like crayfish color cranks but i've found that spinnerbaits with at crayfish color skirt have produced very well Quote

Big-O Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 When in doubt, Green Pumpkin like the one in my avatar. Watermelon Red works well in clear conditions as well.. Big O Quote

SimonDM17 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 i've seen crawdad claws that were black and blue in clear-water lakes. i've seen black/red crawdads in stained lakes. i know it varies based on season too. i usually throw black/blue, just because i have confidence in it. if it's very clear water, black jig/green pumpkin trailer, or a GP craw on a light t-rig. for very stained water, i usually throw a heavy black jig with a bulky, dark trailer that has some vibration. Super User Bankbeater Posted August 8, 2008 Super User Posted August 8, 2008 Right now green is working here in clear lakes. Black is working in muddy water. Quote
