bassman018 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Alright I need to go pick up some stuff for trout season... well I dont need to but hey its been a long winter and a guy can dreamcant he? So I plan on using my Shakspeare Stream Seeker Ultralight.. and its seen allot of use last summer sooo I gotta respool... so What do you guys think... How line shy are trout.. I was thinking 4 pound trilene xl but then I am afraid if a fish can see it so maybe some flouro leader? I just dont want to spend the money for all flouro on my ultralight when My bass rods only get to see Pline Flouroclear... So whatt do you all think? Also I want to get some hip waders this season... Im thinking just the regular rubber ones are these alright? And what do you guys usually throw... Last year it was just powerbait... And those Atlas mikes trout mallows... I want to try some Salmon roe and those power chains or whatever they are called, How in the would do you fish those? I mean not the rig more like how do you hook them... And im gonna be picking up some new inline spinners and tiny Kastmasters. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 4, 2011 Global Moderator Posted February 4, 2011 I like DAM Techtan line for trout in 3.5lb test. It's extremly small diameter and low stretch. Don't know how hard it is to find anymore, I bought a ton of it when Cabela's discontinued it a few years back. Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I like using the Berkley Fireline 6 pound test, but the trout I fish for are mainly stickies so they aren't too bright. :-? Quote
fishingkidPA Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 i use berkly trilene i think it was 2.5 lb test. it works. then i switched to some other line like 4lb test and preformed as well. unless the trout you fish for are massive, i would keep the line under 4lb cause it will double wat it says it is. ;D Quote
Mac1 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I would try trout magnet. Nothing better for trout and crappie. Quote
JigMe Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Here are my two setup for trout fishing: 1. BPS 5'6 L Spinning rod/shimano Sahara(BPS 6lb test) 2. Pflueger Trion 5'0 UL combo (BPS 4lb test) This way I can cover two different depth, and this is my setup for crappie as well. I can cast longer with a 5'6, then the 5'0 can stay somewhat shallow. My favorite bait is rainbow color powerbait, and berkley salmon egg. I use number 10 hook under a slip bobber, and never go larger than a number 8 hook. My buddy has been using powerbait with wax worm, and sometimes he pulls in sunnies, crappies as well. Quote
