Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 Only average snook but starting to turn on, caught 1 yesterday and 2 today, surprisingly on the incoming tide. Dirty ICW, not the clean ocean variety. Quote
Jaheff Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Nice! When ya gonna sell me your Avet? lol Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 Great fish! I've only personally seen one snook caught - I was fishing with my dad in a fresh-water canal (that ran into Biscayne Bay) in the Miami area when he got at 18lb snook - that fish was about 8 miles from the bay and my Dad sure was surprised and delighted! Well, I'm fixin' to hop in the car and drive around my 11 lakes to see if I got any soft water in any of them today... ;D Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 19, 2011 Author Super User Posted January 19, 2011 You mean this left hand, lever drag mxj on a Star rod? Haven't used it in 6 months, real men use spinning gear. ;D Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 You have no business catching fish like that on that wussy spinning setup. Shame on you.. : Quote
0119 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Snook have been on fire up here. ICW is too cold we gotta go up up river. Is that a Soron or a Tierra? Looks sharp on that rod, is it a 20 or a 40? I just got a 4000 CI4 to see if it handles my local creek monsters better than the 2500 CI4 did. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 24, 2011 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2011 That's a Tierra 3000 on a Tsunami airwave inshore rod, 8' 8/17. The only place I'm catching them is in the ICW, or once in awhile at the mouth of the inlet. Caught 3 this morning. Action is a little slow but better than a few weeks ago, hopeful the 4o inchers will be around soon. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 25, 2011 Super User Posted January 25, 2011 Nice going The fellows I speak with haven't been doing much with snook. Don't tell me you're going after the Big Tiderunners with "SPINNING GEAR"!! just kidd'n Roger Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 25, 2011 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2011 Don't tell me you're going after the Big Tiderunners with "SPINNING GEAR"!! HAHA ! I had a first today, after a real slow start I manged 3 snook, one close to slot. Ten minutes or so after sun up I was casting for small jacks on light tackle, then I get hit by a tarpon, my first ever on a spoon, small guy maybe 6 lbs with all the acrobatic moves. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted January 25, 2011 Super User Posted January 25, 2011 Nice job on them soap fish buddy! Quote
