Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted September 29, 2010 Super User Posted September 29, 2010 I have started inshore saltwater fishing recently.Mostly wade fishing the flats and sandbars. I live 3 blocks from Sarasota Bay. Been catching quite a number of decent reds lately up to around 31 inches. Most are long, slender, muscular, and powerful. This one however was kind of mind blowing at least for me and a few people that I showed it. Only 25 inches long but but a real lard @ss,for a red! I am still amazed at how these fish just don't quit once hooked. Every time it seems they are tired and you feel like winching them they dig in and make another run. Felt like an eternity landing this fish but was probably 7-8 mins.Rod used was a 7 ft md redbone and stella 4000. (sorry about the size I can't stand this new photo program we got) Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 30, 2010 Super User Posted September 30, 2010 Nice fish !........Where's that tarpon already ? Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted October 3, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 3, 2010 Guess most people don't like the fact that I am standing in my kitchen holding it. Get over it it's a fact of life. : Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted October 4, 2010 Super User Posted October 4, 2010 Eat the fish but I'm stunned over the fact that you're standing in the house all wet and dirty and are probably going to clean it on the kitchen counter Nice Red though. My brother is up at the Banana river today fishing the Red tourny. One with the most spots wins. Quote

Just think it's a little ironic that If I was standing out on a boat ther'd be a dozen responses. Not like I'm one of these idiots around here that rape 5lb+bass out of small ponds thus destroying the population Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted October 4, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 4, 2010 Nice fish !........Where's that tarpon already ? Everytime I see the tarpon I keep hearing that stupid MC Hammer song "Can't touch this" ;D Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 4, 2010 Super User Posted October 4, 2010 If a fish is legal and you're hungry gives me no problem, whatever kind of fish it is. Plenty of red fish and bass around, certainly no endangered species. I'm catching tons of fish, sadly to report no tarpon and very few snook as of late. Quote
NewAngler Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Nice fish, man. I bet the lack of responses is due to the volume of traffic that hits this section. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 Nice fish, man. I bet the lack of responses is due to the volume of traffic that hits this section. I bet you're right.........IMO most people are interested in fish that they can relate to and are readily available in their geographic area. Fish of "other species " can be difficult to locate, difficult to trigger strikes and give a real workout in landing them. Quote
