Check out this nice cat my cousin caught the other day on the Juniata. He was using a crawfish pattern he tied himself:

I've never seen a cat so dark. I might start targeting Cats with my fly rod, I bet thats an awesome fight!

That's awesome and definitely one dark cat! I would think a bite from a catfish would be far and few between on a fly, but who knows. Would be a fun fight for sure though

the reason that the fish is so dark is because it is probably a spawning/post spawn male channel, and a big one at that!!! great fish. ;)

I think it's a Channel Cat. The Juniata is a great place for Channel Cats and Smallies. I'm not 100% on that though because I haven't cat fished in years.

I believe a channel is a light green with small spots.

Very cool! I'm just getting back into fly fishing after MANY years. I'm fishing for largemouth, stripers, and panfish. That cat would be awesome.

He also loves to catch carp on a fly. They love nymphs soaked in vanilla (I put a paper towel dipped in vanilla in my fly box and they all pick up the scent). Carp almost always get you down to your backing haha I just got into fly fishing this year and it has to be just as exciting as fishing with a jig or topwater!

I have caught a fair number of them on craw/nymph patterns while flyfishing for carp.

Looks like a channel cat to me.

I will have to try that thing with the vanilla......thats a heck of a good idea!

Keep the vanilla away from your trout flies though :P Unless your fishing for stockies...
