fishforlife Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I didn't have a camera with me cause that's when I always manage to catch a big fish but anyway; Tuesday I was fishing Sugar Creek Lake north of Moberly Missouri with my uncle and along with schools of shad there were some fish we couldn't identify jumping completely out of the water. They were brown almost like smallmouth but as far as I'm aware smallmouth aren't stocked in that lake, the lake some walleye but I've never heard of walleye jumping like that. We were back in a long but narrow cove and the fish looked to be of decent size but we couldn't catch any.. anyone have any ideas? Just curious... Quote
Hornytoad 10 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Quote Carp.....? Yup, probably spawning carp. Quote
fishforlife Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 Carp? Really? I never knew they did such a thing.. learn something new everyday I suppose. Thanks, I dunno why it was driving me crazy like that. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 4, 2010 Super User Posted June 4, 2010 Common carp jump a lot, specially during the morning and at dusk. Quote
cufishin Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Me and a buddy were out fishing on the Meramac river around Fenton last weekend and had a Carp that was probably around 15" long jump out of the water and land in the boat while we were cruising along at 10 mph. They had been jumping all day while we were out there. We also saw several catfish either swirl at the surface or jump. Quote
