GLADES Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 If anyone is interested.. I took my 2 yr old daughter for a walk along the pompano pier today. Checking the waters I saw lots of big snook hanging out in the shadows in about 10 ft of water. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Cool! I used to fish the Pompano, Ft. Lauderdale, and Deerfield Beach piers when I was a teenager. Caught a lot of mackerel off those piers. Quote
Bass Mekanik Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Sounds tempting. What was the bait situation looking like? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 21, 2010 Super User Posted February 21, 2010 FYI, the snook season is closed and a tentative date is Sept 1 for opening, however I did hear some talk about the season being shut down for 2 years, so it's catch and release only. That's where the snook hang, in the swash, usually the water is too cold for them this time of the year to be on the beaches, I've been catching quite a few in the ICW or brackish canals ( they look for warmer water), very little if any bait in my area, have yet to fish around the pompano pier. GLADES Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 At the pier, they only sell frozen squid and very basic tackle for the tourists. In the ocean, I did not see any schools, but the guys fishing on the pier said they are around. Quote
