Eternal Angler Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Anyone see this episode of Monster Quest on the History channel. The YouTube video is just a shortened version of it, I actually think there were two episodes of monster size freswhater fish. Might be more, but these few episodes are worth buying. I just love the part where they talked about monster size Muskie. There were some good fish stories in there. I think on one episode one of the Lindner brothers made an appearance. He took a small rc device to navigate under the ice while the water was frozen, tried to pick up some monster size muskie. That was very cool! I never knew Lake Trout can get that big as they described in the video. I hope this isn't a repost, if so, sorry moderators. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 4, 2010 Super User Posted January 4, 2010 That was one of my favorite episodes. There's definitely some radical fish out there. Quote
microman Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 there is a world record muskie in the lake featured in the video, they just have to go down deep enough to get it. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted January 4, 2010 Super User Posted January 4, 2010 Great video. I have fished for lake trout in numerous upper candian lakes. They say they only grow 1/2 lb to one pound per year of age. I saw a still photo of a 101lb laker netted from lake athabasca when they still commercially netted the lake. It was said to be asexual. It looked like a giant sunfish in shape, small head with a heavily rounded body. A real freak. Here is a picture of a red fin lake trout caught in lake athabasca northern saskatchewan. Quote
