bassmajor Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Was on vacation in cancun last week and chartered a boat. Cousin caught a king mackerel that went 58" and est. 60+ lbs. Doing some quick searching on the web led me to believe that that's pretty dang big for a king mackerel. Does that sound right? I have no idea about deep sea fishing being from So. Dak. and all! bass or bass ? Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 The record for king mackerel I believe is 82 pounds, caught off of Florida, so yes, that's a big 'un. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 3, 2009 Super User Posted December 3, 2009 I fish for kings a lot and that is a big one, mine are usually between 10-20lb, but have seen them 40 or so. Different associates have different records, I just read world record 72#, but Florida record 90#, so who really knows? Quote
etommy28 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 thats big! i fish for them some times, we catch a lot 10-20 pounds and some up to 50 but any thing over that is very good sized. Quote
bassmajor Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Yea, it was a nice fish. We had no idea what it even was, with all of being from the midwest. When we got it in the boat the Mexican guides, who spoke little English, were really chattering. All I could make out was "nice fish, nice fish!" ;D haha. I'll get a pic up tonight if I remember to.
