Fish Chris Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Freshwater; Musky big Lake Trout (Makinaw) Golden Trout Nile Perch giant South American catfish (Redtails, or any other over 100 lbs) a 40 lb+ Pacu (it would be like fighting a 40 lb Bluegill ;-) European Wels catfish New Gunea Black Bass Saltwater; Well Black or Blue Marlin, sure..... But nobody mentioned a straight up Sword Fish ! Did you guys know their are guys who have caught all kinds of Marlin, but are still trying for their first actual Sword Fish ? A big Hammerhead, Mako, Tiger, or Thresher shark. Great Whites would be cool, but I think they are pretty much totally protected, in most waters, so that you can't even fish for them... even if you intend to release them. Tarpon Alaskan Halibut (at least a 100lb'er) Bluefin Tuna Wahoo Roosterfish I'm sure I'm forgetting some... but anyway. I'm always down for a new species :-) Peace, Fish PS, I watched a guy catch a 12 to 14ft Sawfish the other day on one of the fishing programs. How cool would that be ??? Â :-) Quote

Sailfish on fly 3. Swordfish 4. 10+ lb peacock 5. 75+ lb kingfish or wahoo would probably be a blast although I may need new tackle afterwards. Â I've had 50 pounders totally grenade reels... Quote
Daiwa Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 The only freshwater fish I want to catch at this moment would be a Muskie. I have fished for 2 years for them and havent gotten one yet. My goal is to get one (I dont care what size) in the boat this year. Ive already had 2 follows, on about 35-37" and a monster 50"+ follow my lures. The 50 incher was before opener (I was using a small buzzbait, followed it up to the boat) so I didnt feel like figure 8ing to catch him. Its not as fun to catch big fish when their season hasnt started yet. It was pretty cool though. Followed it right to the boat, turned 90 degress and ran parallel to the boat. It was one of those "Woah" moments, where you crap your pants, and are shaking like crazy. All I want to say is I hope all of you who want to catch a northern pike, catch one this year. Once you get one, your hooked for good. No pun intended ;D Heres a little tip I learned from Pike fishing (my prefered fish): Take any lure you want to use (anything, besides a spoon. It can be a hard plastic, spinner. It can be a top water, but thats harder to do)Then take your back hook off, so you just have a eye (for spinner baits youll have to get creative) and attach a liter to it. Then take a spoon and attach it to the other end of your liter. Cast, and watch the pike attack it. Heres how it works: When the pike sees the spoon "following" the front lure, it thinks it chasing it down, for food. Pike are really competitive, and they try to beat the spoon to it. They work great. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 7, 2009 Super User Posted June 7, 2009 Regarding your muskie and this is only a thought never have done it. We were discussing this very thing on the pier yesterday as were cuda fishing and muskies are incredibly similar to cuda both in size and habit. We use cuda tubes, we make our own but they can be bought. It may or may not work but worth a try as I'm sure your muskies have not seen this presentation before. Quote

etommy28 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 No snook or redfish in that part of Florida? not in order, Permit, Amazon peas, Roosterfish, Barramundi. Snook dont go north of daytona commonly, they are very rare here in j-ville, so I would think they dont go to tally, and it is an hour from tally to the gulf so maybe he has not taken the time to get a red, even though the redfish fishing is very good there. :-/ Quote
Teal101 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I'd like to finally land a musky. Â I've had a few follows and had 2 12" ones and a 24"+ one on. Â Seen many in the 36"+ range. Â I've even caught barracuda before, but no musky. 1.) Musky 2.) Pike 3.) Golden trout 4.) Sturgeon 5.) Brown Trout 6.) King Salmon 7.) Walleye (Ya I know right? ) In Washington this is all accomplishable and I plan on completing it sometime. Â I know where I can knock the king, brown, and walleye out real quick. Â Musky and pike shouldn't be super hard. Â Sturgeon just takes me having some time to do it. Â And i gotta find the secret golden trout lakes here in WA. Quote

I called FWCC when I was away from them. But no, I just haven't had the time, nor do I know the area well enough to seriously fish for redfish since I don't have a boat and it is difficult to bank fish here. I am open for suggestions on places to go for redfish here in Tally if anyone has them, though. Quote
