Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 A good morning isn't numbers it's quality. Started at about 5 am just after tide change, within about 20 minutes bagged 2 juvy tarpon probably in the 25-30# range on medium 17lb class rod. Then for a change a pace I caught some live herring and moments later got cut off, lost my only 2 oz sinker so I started throwing a tube, 2 hours and a thousand casts later got slammed big time by a 43 inch cuda.......someone will be enjoying a nice dinner. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 9, 2009 Super User Posted July 9, 2009 Tarpon are a blast. Did I ever tell you about the 177 pound Tarpon I caught off the inlet on 12 pound spinning gear? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 9, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 9, 2009 Did I ever tell you about the 177 pound Tarpon I caught off the inlet on 12 pound spinning gear? Dougie you're my idol , I never got one close to that size. I did hook a nice one once and got spooled in less than 60 seconds, luckly I tape and not tie so no reel damage only 280yds of braid. The inlet is all about tide, tide rules! That was the first cuda strike in over a week for me, it's challenging and you will never catch 30 fish in an outing. This hasn't been the poorest season at the inlet in years, especially with the big pier closed down, but I'm there about every morning between 4 and 5 am. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 9, 2009 Super User Posted July 9, 2009 Yea, well I never told you about it because it never happened. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 9, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 9, 2009 I believed ya, anything can happen out here, I just wondered how much line your reel held and how you weighed it. Quote
