And on a Crankbait, no less! Now, I know it ain't no record or nothing but it's definately the biggest I've ever caught by far and the biggest I've seen come out of my pond!!! I don't know if you can really pick it up by the pic, but I have pretty big hands! The bait is a Sisson Deep 2 in Black/Chartreuse. Never seen that either! It was a real ***** (hey that ain't what I typed, but I like it!) to get out, had to keep putting him back to swim for a few seconds while i figured out how. The tail hook was perfectly hooked on all three points past the barbs just inside his mouth. My wife kept laughing and saying "Well, that's it, you killed him.No telling how long that fish has lived and now you've killed him." Wound up using this thing for the first time since i got it 15 years or so ago...Still don't even know if I used it right, but it worked, Layed him in the water and he swam away. I think I just got lucky! Pretty cool! Maybe I just don't get out much! ;D Just thought I'd share!

That is a very nice red eared sunfish. you can tell by the markings and the gill flap. Bream are a Eurapean fish we dont have any in the United states.

actually, that would be a male......the red tail from spawning gives it away....females do not make the beds, males do. thats how their tales bleed, because they are clearing out an area, and stuff cuts up their tail. ;) i will give you that it does look female because of the belly, but females will not clear a bedding area. but that does kinda look like that blood is fresh, maybe it is from the line? and also it is on the top part of the tail, so maybe its a female, that got her tail cut by the line/ but they do not clear bedding areas.
