Daniel My Brother Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Actually, I tried a couple pieces and gave the rest to the dog. Only a couple of pieces? Did it not satisify your taste buds? It tasted like fish mixed with rubber bands. Quote
DawsonH Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Gator gar fishing is fun, if you can get bit. Ive caught a few of them on large dead baits. Use something like 1/2 of a 12" gizzard shad or some other large cut bait. You can fish on the bottom or use a slip float. You will also need a wire leader, they have nasty teeth and heavy bite pressure. Quote
Zordy Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I've never been gar fishing but I do love to see all the pictures! They are so interesting to me. How do they taste? Quote
bassmaster3000 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Hmmmm.... I would NOT want to be bit by those choppers!!! ;D ;D Quote
MikeStadler Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Dang, that is one heck of a gar. I haven't been able to get one on rod and reel, but slay them while bow fishing, still put up a great fight. Quote
