Btech Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Anyone tell me more about peacok bass ? Does North Carolina have them and if so where can you find info on them (Seem to always get your basics with Google) Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 28, 2008 Super User Posted December 28, 2008 I don't think you'll find them in N.C. Too cold, but that's what they said about Palm Beach County several years ago. Quote
macmaster761 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 you're not going to find peacocks in north carolina, they're from the amazon, they're not gonna like your weather down there too much. Sry dude, gonna have to take a trip to catch those bad boys Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 28, 2008 Super User Posted December 28, 2008 Quote Darn Guess ill stick with my Striped bass. Nothing wrong with stripers great fighting fish, wish we had them here. If you ever make it to south Florida for peas, you should try spillway snook, that will test your ability and equpment as well. I can show you places to catch lm, peacock, snook and tarpon all in the same place. Quote
JohnC Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I've found anything bright works really well such as gold kastmasters and white shad Bomber model As. Peacocks in Hawaii are like Trevally, gotta work the bait at a consistent speed and if you get one following, work the lure even faster! It may be the same for you out in Florida. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 15, 2009 Super User Posted January 15, 2009 Pretty much, when the peas are aggressive they hit about anything. They keep coming after that lure till they get it, where as a largemouth may just swim away. Do you have much freshwater fishing in Hawaii, I've never been there. We have a time share in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and it's advertized as the same latitude as Hawaii, would imagine the fishing is terrific there. Quote
JohnC Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 There's plenty enough but only cause most concentration is on saltwater. You can fish for smallmouth in just about every stream just as long as its not brackish or infested with Jewel banded cichlids or tilapia. (this is on Oahu btw) If you are just interested in just peacocks then head on out to Lake Wilson in Wahiawa. I have yet to go out to Kauai but i've heard of stellar freshwater fishing over there as well due to lack of the tropical aquarium fish infesting the waters. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 17, 2009 Super User Posted January 17, 2009 How did the peacocks get to Hawaii, were they stocked as done here in south Florida? I thought they were native only to South America. That's pretty interesting. Quote
JohnC Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 yes they were indeed stocked like smallies Quote
