brgbassmaster Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 ok guys i just found out theres a trout stream 20 minutes from me and i was pumped because when i cant drive 2hrs to bass fish i can go there. i need to know what a good trout rod is for a small stream that is only about 10ft wide maybe. and lots of bushes and trees on the bank and over the water. Back home in michigan me and my buddy would wade a creek smaller than that for browns and we used a 4 ft ultralight rod and used small mepps spinners to catch them. what kind of rod do you all use? also for bigger streams i would like to know. and what different types of lures besides spinners because thats all i have ever used in michigan and alaska. Jake. Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I like a 5 ft UL fast action rod. 4 ft isn't long enough IMO. Quote
Tom Bass Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Brass Bat answered your question. But seriously, Go with a 5' UL spinning rod and a variety of Rooster Tails and Mepps spinners in various colors. Have fun! Quote
brgbassmaster Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 haha thanks i figured you guys would say that but i will try the 5ft ultralight thanks again. i guess i wasnt to sure so even for big streams a 5ft is ok? Quote
Troutfisher Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Depends on your stream type, 5 feet is a good sized rod for small to medium sized streams. If you go for a bigger stream, you're gonna wanna upgrade to maybe a 6 or 6 and 1/2 foot rod. Your setup now sounds good. Let us know how you do! Quote
