brgbassmaster Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 well we went over to bear creek while i was home. not alot of fish in the first day. but we caught 4 total. we were using number 5 blade mepps spinners reeling them straight up the holes and you would feel them crush it. secoond day out alot more fish came in watched 18 come into one hole but couldnt get them to bite lost one and my dad caught one. i will post pics later. my salmon was allready spawned out though kinda weird. my dad has a decent male and a steel head and my buddy caught a steel head. I hope by Friday after work there where be a few more so we dont have to chase them up and down the river. Quote

platinumjason Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 where you live at cuz up in northern michigan salmon are starting to come in good. I'm in Newaygo which is about midway in the state on the west side. There are a few here and there but not real heavy yet. We have a famous river here in mississauga called the credit river. it is known for the salmon fishing during this time of the year. i wanna catch a salmon. can you give me some quick tips on what i should be doing? what lure to use? what areas to look for, etc? I hear a few guys that went up north used a single salmon egg (plastic) to catch the ones they got. I also know a guy who does pro bass fishing and he went salmon fishing a week ago and bought a bunch of hot n tots and wiggle warts in silver and firetiger color. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 the people with the one salmon egg all they do is throw out a weight with a hook and egg and jerrk their rod hoping to SNAG a fish. we see that all the time at bear creek i wish the DNR would go down there. i have fished for salmon in alaska and michigan and salmon do bite. kayl. Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 A lot of people use spawn sacks, but you can throw rapalas and spoons cross-current to get the biters. DON'T SNAG! Snaggers make me sick. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 thank you thank you thank you...yes you can do that to get the biters and snaggers make me so angry. i had a guy when i was 10yrs old i got there before day light waiting patiently for light so i could see fish. and as soon as it got daylight came tromping down the river and pushed me out of the way and started whipping his snagging rod around...so my dad came down there and had a few words with him and he never came back or wallked by my dad.
