fishingaddict Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Saw two of these guys while fishing on the bank, didn't catch them but I have a feeling they might have been dumped there from an aquarium. I'm unsure what it is, but I'm curious to know. Quote
vicdotcom Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Kinda looks like an Oscar fish to me. Hard to tell for me at that angle. Might be wrong though. Vic Quote
Still a Bigbuckifan Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 it's a tailapia (sorry for the spelling) Quote
Super User T-rig Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 Could be a Tilapia or a Oscar. Looks like some kind of south american Cichlid. Quote
Krzkev Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Try doing a google search on Myan Chiclid That is exactly what it is. They are all over the place down a little south of you. They are a non native south american species that no knowledge of there introduction is know. They fight really good though for a smaller fish I have seen them up to 2 lbs. Quote
fishingaddict Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 I looked at the mayan chiclid and I'm pretty sure that's what it was. Thanks to everyone who posted Quote

SouthMiamiBassMan Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Myan chiclid. When they are mating their colors really intensify into bright orange and blue. They are great fighters and will go for anything from bread balls, nightcrawlers, to live shinners. When you set the hook they just take off! When you reel them in you would think they were twice the size they really are. Quote
