CookieMonst3r Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Today was my first time Crappie fishing and they were eating everything from bread to small pieces of artificial worms. What Crappie baits do you guys use? I've seen people use maggots and other crazy things. I was alos wondering what # line do you all use and what is your presentation? Thanks. Quote
moby bass Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I like to tip my plastics with the Berkley Crappie Nibbles. I have a bunch of those Creekside panfish and Crappie lures. Most don't seem to work too well. The nibbles help. Little jigs with thumping shads or white and chartreuse grubs work best for me. Quote
Korea_Bassin Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 They don't have crappie here in Korea so I haven't fished for them in several years. But we used to fish for crappie at night with lanterns using live minnows and had great success. Another good bait is a small crappie spinner. Quote
jvox Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 1 1/2" Mr. twister plastics work well. Small jigs and a small mepps spinners will also work well. And of course worms and minnows, but wheres the fun in that?? haha jvox Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 22, 2008 Super User Posted June 22, 2008 I don't get to target crappies very much, but when I do I use an ultralight outfit with 4# line. A full variety of appropriately sized lures will work. For me, I favor small jigheads with grubs or small crankbaits. Quote
crazy4bass1 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 i liek to use bout a 2 inch tube on small jigheads that will catch just about any panfish out ther tho if u want to target crappie specifically try crappie nibbles they work great and seem to draw in maily crappie Quote
