MaxDal Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Well, I was paying a visit to my parents in Versailles and decided I had to go fishing in the little man-made reservoirs that surround the Versailles Palace. I don't know if it's really legal ... no sign whatsoever though ! I might get my head chopped off in a near future I was fishing a Flashminnow 110 and eventually caught a couple of yellow perch and a small pike. Well the tourists that were visiting the garden were just as suprised as I was..... Here's the picture they took. Quote
MaxDal Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 And here's one of the yellow perch ... if you look close enough you might be able to see the Versailles Palace in the background. So much for tourism Quote
skillet Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 May not have been any signs but I think somehow the Sun King would have frowned on commoners having the nerve to actually catch his fish out of his ponds ;D... As Ever, skillet BTW OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!! Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 28, 2008 Super User Posted March 28, 2008 Wow...gorgeous pike! Hmmm, let's see...you're not that far from Lake Irr, Austria Roger Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted March 28, 2008 Super User Posted March 28, 2008 Nice pike. I'm still amazed at the size of your perch. Lake St. Clair has a ton of perch, but not the size of the ones you've showed us. If we had perch that size I might spend some time perch fishing. Falcon Quote
bassdocktor Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Awesome catch. The fish really look healthy. Quote

MaxDal Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Yop Skillet, Down with the King ;D ! Thanks y'all for you replies. @ Rolo : How do you know Lake Irr in Austria (Irr-see) ? The sound of music? I've lived one year in Austria and a friend of mine has his parents in Salzburg, pretty close to Lake Irr. @Maltese Falcon : We sure have tons of perch here, but I'll trade them for smallmouth any day @BRBBassmaster : Pretty crazy indeed ! I can answer your questions, there ain't no bass in those lakes...at least not yet : ! Next time you come over to Versailles, let me know. Quote
XbassmasterX Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Nice pike all the fish over their seem really healthy seems like an awsome place to live with all that fishing close by ;D Quote

Let's just say I'm 'pike-crazy' : Lake Irr, Austria is the most famous water in the world for northern pike. Five of the all-time top 100 pike came from Lake Irr, Austria. One caught in 1980, tipped the scales at an unofficial 57 lb 5oz!!! Trust me, the guy in the photo below was not using fluorocarbon leader http://64.226.208.65/scans/_PikeWR.jpg Roger Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 Great pictures MaxDal! Quote
fishizzle Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Nice fish and great looking area to fish Those pike and perch are huge. And by the way, you are the nicest dressed fisherman I have ever seen!! The pros should take some pointers Quote

That's a freaking behemoth this guy is holding in your pic. I'm not really a pike-freak myself. BTW, that's pretty funny. I'd do anything to live in Florida and thus have access to all the tremendous fishing opportunities... but you live there and you want to fish for northern pikes. Man oh man, life is hard @Fishizzle: thanks for the compliment on the dress code. I didn't do it on purpose though, I just so happened that I was dressed that way. I wasn't really fishing, I mean if I am to hit the water for a full day I will use more casual clothes. Quote

I'm having a hard time to browse the forums (not the forum fault by any mean). I'll see you back in a couple of days. Quote
