John J. Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 What does the water temp have to be in order for the crappie to start spawning? I am not a big crappie fisherman, but I witnessed a bunch of crappie suspending along the banks of my pond... Yes you all might say that crappie do not belong in a bass pond, and I agree with you! My neighbor owns half of the pond and we own the other half (paid for half). I was told that crappie spawn early but I was wondering about what temperature level and how often do they spawn? Thanks and god bless 8-) Quote
PondBoss Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Honestly I'm not sure as specifics go but I'd have to say they spawn when the temp is in the mid to upper 40's. I have started to see little hatchlings in a couple of local ponds here. Quote
Super User Micro Posted March 16, 2008 Super User Posted March 16, 2008 They are spawning here in southeast Virginia. It was all I caught last weekend. Quote
